Perfect
They say I'm perfect,
They look at me as a robot,
They say I have no defect,
My record not tarnished with a single spec.
I'm only human; they say I'm not.

My entire life they've said this.
Everything built up, greater than I can stand.
There's so much I've seen, more I missed.
Just maintaining this perfectness.
I wish for just one helping hand.

One person to understand
Just how hard "perfect" is to maintain.
One to help take some of the load off
And be a true friend.
Even at the chance that others will look on you with distain.

I don't want this pedestal, please let me down,
I'm only human, like everyone else,
For you're the only one I've found
That doesn't dress me up in "perfect's" gown
With you, I'm free to be myself.

Perfect: That's not me.
I'm only human, not perfection
And that's the only thing they see.
You; you know the real me.
I deserve no distinction, no pedestal.
You've recognized that, and you let me down.
Thank-you, you're my truest friend.
