Chapter7


	Episode Seven: Asuka Strikes!/A new warrior. (Ed’s note: Any lines with the ___ character are there because at the time of typing, I was uncertain of the spelling of the german words. Last thing I want is to look like a fool typing words I don’t even know.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Deep within the office of Gendo Ikari, a secret phone call in in progress.) Gendo: Yes, the unit is due to arrive any day now. I’m sending some of my people to meet it on route. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------- (Far from the coast of Japan, a massive transport helicopter flies above the ocean. Inside, Matt pilots, with Misato sitting next to him. In the back, Shinji, Touji and Kenske sit, Kenske going on about the helicopter.) Kenske: Wow, a MIG-54 D Transport Helicopter!! I never thought I’d get the chance to fly in one of these hot mommas!! It’s great having a celebrity like you for a friend, Shinji! Shinji: (covering his ears over the sound of the engines) Eh? Misato: Yeah, I thought you guys must be sick of being cooped up inside that mountain for so long, so I thought I’d take you out on this little date. (At this, Touji leaps forwards, staring at Misato.) Touji: What? Are you saying this is a date? And I wore this hat especially for you!! I’ll never take it off. Shinji: (sighing) So, where are we going? Misato: Oh, we’re just going for a ride on that cute little boat down there. (As they all look, the clouds part to reveal a massed fleet of battleships sailing in a huge formation on the calm sea.) Kenske: OH MY GOD!!! One, two , three, four, five, aircraft carriers and four battleships!! What a fleet!! Touji: That’s your little boat? Kenske: She’s gorgeous! That’s the flagship of the combined U.N. fleet, the supercarrier “Over the Rainbow”. Shinji: It’s gigantic... Misato: I’m surprised it’s still floating..... Matt: Hmmm.....Republic Landships are so much better looking. Kenske: Naw, it’s a vintage model, from just before the Second Impact!! Matt: Hmm....still an ugly looking thing...... Misato: Hey! It’s the best that the rest of Humanity can afford in these times! Matt: Heh heh, yeah I know. (As the huge helicopter comes in to land on the flight deck, a small feminine silhouette can be seen leaning over a rail, watching the helicopter with great interest. In the wind, her yellow dress billows, but she does not notice. For all her attention is focused on the small group of people exiting the vehicle. Finally, she moves off, heading down to meet them. Below, Kenske can be seen looking around wildly with his camera, yelling loudly in happiness. Touji runs forwards, his baseball cap blown off by the wind, screaming for someone to stop it. Shinji and Misato come out of the chopper awkardly, stretching their tired limbs. Matt steps down, stretching once, but otherwise seemingly fine.) Touji: Hey!! Someone stop that hat!! C’mon, that’s my special hat!! Someone stop it, please!!! (Suddenly, a foot clamps down on the hat in question, making Touji look up and growl at the owner of the foot.) Misato: Hey, Asuka! My, you’ve grown since we last saw each other! Girl: Ya huh! And it’s not just my height, my figure’s filled out too! Misato: Allow me to introduce you. This is the designated pilot of Unit 2, the Second Child: Asuka Langley Soryu. (Suddenly, a gust of wind blows through, blowing the girls skirt up. As each of the boys gets a glimpse, she slaps them in turn.) Touji: What’d you do that for?!! (The others are rendered partially speechless by the spectacle.) Asuka: That’s the viewing fee. Quite a bargain if you ask me... Touji: It’s overpriced, but that’s okay. HERE’S YOUR CHANGE!!! (With that, Touji drops his pants and flashes Asuka, who cries out in outrage, and slaps him again. Everyone around them can do nothing but stare as Touji embarrasingly pulls his pants back up.) Asuka: So, where’s the great Third Child? Ach, nein..... (She looks across at Touji, groaning.) Misato: Don’t worry, Asuka. It’s him. (She guestures to Shinji, who just stares back.) Asuka: Hmm. Not much to look at.... Misato: And this is Colonel Matthew Eklom, pilot of the Australian Titan Mech-Warrior. (Matt removes his sunglasses, and smiles at Asuka.) Matt: Welcome aboard, Asuka. Asuka: A Titan? What sort of crummy name is that for an EVA? (Everyone is silent for a moment, before Matt laughs quietly before answering.) Matt: Yes, well, Evangelion had already been taken, hadn’t it? (Everyone smiles briefly before they all head up to the bridge.) ------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- (A short time later, up on the bridge of the carrier..) Admiral: Hmmph. NERV. I assumed when I first saw you down there you were the leader of this boy-scout gang. Now I see I was mistaken. Misato: Thank you for all your gracious hospitaility, Admiral. Admiral: Oh no. Thank you for letting us have so many more children to babysit. Since when did the U.N. turn us into a bloody cargo fleet? XO: I believe it was shortly after the developement of a certain organisation, sir. Admiral: Guarding a childrens toy, what a ridiculous assignment for the entire pacific fleet! Misato: It’s not enough. Not when you really consider how much the EVA’s are worth. Here are the specifications for the emergency power supply connections. Admiral: Hmmph. You’ve wasted your time. I’d never approve activating that thing while we’re at sea, anyway. Misato: Think of it as being prepared for an emergency. Sign these transfer documents, please. Admiral: Not yet. The Evangelion has been entrusted to us from the third branch in Germany. You’re not just going to waltz in here in do what you please, Captain Katsuragi! Misato: Grr......when will you sign them? Admiral: Once we’ve unloaded in New Yokosuka. The ocean is our jursidiction. You will follow our orders here. Misato: I understand. But please remember that in an emergency, NERV’s military authority overrides your own. Touji: (more to himself) She’s awesome...... Shinji: ....she sounds just like Ritsuko..... (As Misato goes to leave, they all become aware of a new prescence in the room.) Man: Hey, everyone. Asuka: Kagi!!!! (As Misato cringes at the sight of the man, the Admiral goes on.) Admiral: Mr Kagi, I must insist that you stop inviting yourself onto the bridge!! Kagi: Oh....sorry about that.... (Misato proceeds to leave the bridge in the opposite direction to Kagi, followed by Shinji, Touji, Kenske and Matt. However, Kagi follows quickly afterwards, followed by Asuka, who is looking lovingly at Kagi. A short time later, the seven of them are squeezed into an elevator, travelling down. Misato: (slightly muffled) What the hell are you doing here? Kagi: (slightly muffled) I’m on a special assignment for Commander Ikari. Misato: Hmmph. I should have known. (Suddenly, both Misato and Asuka shriek) Misato/Asuka: HEY, WATCH YOUR FINGERS!! Kagi/Touji: I CAN’T HELP IT!! Matt: (sarcastically painfull) I CAN’T FEEL MY LEGS!!!! (The joke breaks some of the ice, although in this crushed position it is hard for all to laugh...) ---------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- (A short time later, in the mess hall of the Over the Rainbow. An icy scene is taking place. Misato sits opposite Kagi, who is trying to play footsy with her. Clockwise from Misato, Touji, Kenske, Shinji and Asuka sit, with Matt at Misato’s end at the head.) Kagi: So, do you have a boyfriend? Misato: I don’t think that’s any of your buisness. Kagi: I’m hurt.....ow. (The silence ensues again, as Misato withdraws her feet. Kagi looks over at Matt, who is still evaluating Kagi’s character through neutral eyes.) Kagi: So, I hear you’re living next to Misato, Matt? Matt: Yeah, I am. What of it? (Kagi smirks before answering.) Kagi: I just wanted to know if she was still so....wild in bed... (The table burst into uproar as Misato leaps acorss the table.) Touji: WHAT?!! Kenske: !! Shinji: !! Asuka: WHAT?!! Misato: JUST WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING BY THAT?!!! (But Matt remains neutral. However, his tone is icy.) Matt: Misato’s sex life is not for me to discuss, even if I had a part in it. And if you don’t apologise for that remark, you’re gonna be eating through a straw for a week. (But Kagi looks nonchalant, looking away as he drinks his coffee.) Kagi: Just what a thought. One uptight as hell, the other just a drunken fool who hides behind idle threats. (Matt’s glare becomes much darker, now that he has been insulted.) Matt: I’m warning you now, Kagi. Shut the fuck up before I drop you. Kagi: Oh, give it a rest, you stupid auss- (Kagi gets no further as he is suddenly knocked out of his seat by a meaty left hand backhander from Matt. As he reels backwards, he suddenly feels the wind get knocked out of him as Matt drives his right fist into Kagi’s gut hard enough to lift him two inches off the floor. As Kagi drops, Matt nails him to the wall with his left arm, and holds him against the wall by his neck. As he hangs there, gasping for breath, Matt growls at him through clenched teeth.) Matt: How’s this for an idle threat? If I don’t hear an apology from you within ten seconds that sounds believable enough, I’m gonna beat it out of you. (Misato has meanwhile stood, trying to make Matt let him go.) Misato: Matt, I’m sure he didn’t mean any of it, really.. Matt: It sounded real enough for me, Misato. Now, let’s hear an apology, shall we? (Still being held against the wall, Kagi grunts.) Kagi: Sss...ssorry!! I’m sorry!! I didn’t mean any of it!! (Matt drops the near-unconcious man to the floor, and then turns to sit back down.) Matt: Apology accepted. (Misato also sits back down. Kagi stands up, giving Matt a look of daggers before storming out. Matt stands up, and faces the group of people.) Matt: Please forgive my behaviour, there was no call for that. Misato: Well, he kind of asked for it....but I think you went a little overboard with the pinning him to wall part.... Matt: Sorry....but he really pissed me off....funny, I don’t usually beat the shit out of people like that.... (Around the table, there are murmurs of agreement or uncertainty...except from Asuka, who is silent for a moment before looking at Shinji.) Asuka: Hey Third Child! You’re coming with me. (With that, she drags Shinji out of the room.) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------- (After a short helicopter ride, Asuka and Shinji are aboard the Othello, where Evangelion Unit 2 is being transported. Asuka pulls aside the tarpaulin for Shinji to see.) Shinji: That’s interesting....I didn’t know it was red... Asuka: That’s not all that’s good about Unit 2... Shinji: Uh huh... (Asuka climbs to the top of the EVA’s currently open neck armour plate.) Asuka: Unit 00 and 01 were the prototype and test type respectively. The fact that Unit 01 synchronised with an untrained pilot like you is proof of that. But Unit Two is a little different- my Unit Two is the worlds first real Evangelion!! Designed for actual combat, it’s the final production model-whoa!!!! (As Asuka cries out, the entire ship is shaken by a huge undersea shockwave.) Shinji: What the hell was that?!! Asuka: Undersea shockwave!! And it sounded close!! (The two EVA pilots rush out of the chamber, and out onto the deck where they see one of the battleships escorting the Othello suddenly snap in half and explode violently.) Shinji: It can’t be!! Angels!! Asuka: Angels? You mean a real one?!! (As they watch, a huge shape can be seen swimming just beneath the ocean, leaving no doubt as to what it is.) Shinji: This is really bad!! We’ve got to warn Misato!! (But Asuka has turned away, a smug smile on her face...) Asuka: _____..... ---------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------- ------ (Meanwhile, onboard the Over the Rainbow, all hell has broken loose as the first reports of a sinking ship come in. As the Admiral and XO watch through their binoculars, Misato gets to the bridge.) Misato: Hello? NERV delivery! Care to order information about the target and ways to destroy it? Admiral: This is a combat situation!! Get off my bridge!! Misato: If I’m not mistaken, that would have to be an Angel! Admiral: All ships, fire at will!!!!! Misato: It pointless.... (All of the ships in the fleet open fire, launching missile salvos, torpedoes and other weapons. However, none of the weapons seem to be working..) Admiral: Why won’t it sink?!! Touji: (quietly) Only an EVA can beat it.. Admiral/XO: (turning to face him angrilly) WHAT?!! Touji: (suddenly looking quite scared) Nothing!! (The Angel can be seen cruising just beneath the surface of the water at high speed.) Misato: It seems to be searching for something.... (Suddenly, it smashes into another ship, tearing it in half.) Misato: But what is this Angel doing here? Is it looking for Unit Two? (Below the bridge, on an observation platform, Kagi watches with disinterest, his attention more on the swelling bruise on his face.) Kagi: An A.T. Field can’t be penetrated with that kind of firepower. ------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- (Meanwhile, aboard the Othello, Auska drags Shinji along the corridors until she finds an empty stairwell.) Asuka: C’mon, schnell!! Grr, wait here!! (Asuka proceeds down the stairwell herself, out of Shinji’s sight, and starts undressing, a new plug suit beside her. As she continues to put it on, she suddenly catches sight of Shinji looking over the top of the stairs, who quickly looks away.) Shinji: Sorry!! Asuka: Don’t you peep you ____!! Why do all boys have to be such a bunch of perverted jerks? ____ ____!! (Finally, she finishes putting on her plug suit. Pressing a button at her wrist, the suit shrinks, conforming tightly to the contours of her body.) Asuka: (to herself) Let’s go, Asuka. (Dragging Shinji back out to the EVA chamber, she throws another plug suit into his arms. As he looks up at her, not knowing what she wants, she stares at him defiantly.) Asuka: Well? Put it on!! Shinji: Errr... Asuka: Don’t just stand there, get moving!! (A short time later, Shinji stands in front of Unit 02 wearing one of Asuka’s blood red plug suits.) Shinji: Okay, Asuka....but what do we need these flight suits for? Asuka: Are you dense? We’re going to defeat that Angel using my Unit 2!! Shinji: Are you crazy? Does Misato know?! Asuka: I’ll get her permission after the fight. (As the entry plug opens, Asuka guestures to it.) Asuka: There! Get ready for an amazing display of piloting, Third Child. Shinji: Uhh... Asuka: Just don’t bug me, okay? ------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- (Meanwhile, in one of the Over the Rainbow’s cabins, Kagi sits looking out of a window, talking to Gendo Ikari on a cellular.) Kagi: I didn’t expect to come so close...It wasn’t meant to be this way, was it? Gendo: That’s why Unit 02 is there. And I’ve generously provided a second pilot. If worse comes to worse, you can always escape on your own. Kagi: Of course I can. Also, sir? I’d like to make a complaint about Colonel Eklom. Gendo: Don’t bother me with such nonsense! Sort out your own personal problems, Mister Kagi! (With that, the line goes dead.) Kagi: Hmmph. I guess I’d better clear out of here.... -------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------- (Meanwhile, inside the entry plug of Unit 02, Asuka goes through her start up procedures.) Asuka: (in german) L.C.L. fluid injection: confirmed. L.C.L. health monitor: confirmed. Synchronisation start!! (But as the sequence begins, suddenly, the plug’s interior turns bright red with error lights.) Shinji: Uhh....it’s a program error! Asuka: It’s thought noise: I told you not to bug me! Shinji: What do you mean? Asuka: Grr!! You’re thinking in japenese, aren’t you? If you must think, do it in German! Shinji: Okay, I’ll try...err...Strudle, Bratworst- Asuka: Dumkoph!! Never mind!! Switch language to Japenese. (The plugs interior goes black for a moment before resuming it’s start up sequence. Finally, it shows the outside world.) Asuka: Evangelion Unit 02: GO!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ ------- (Aboard the Over the Rainbow..) Comms officer: Communication from the Othello!! EVA Unit 02 is activating!!! (Everyone rushes to look out at the transport ship.) Admiral: Say what?! Misato: Alright Asuka!! (With slow, deliberate movements, a huge lump rises underneath the tarpaulin covering the EVA.) Admiral: (into a radio) Stop the EVA!! Abort the activation sequence!! Grr!! (Suddenly, Misato is upon him, trying to wrestle the mike free.) Misato: Don’t listen to him, Asuka, take off!! (Suddenly, the lump leaps into the air, just as the Angel crashes into the side of the ship, destroying it. The tarpaulin and object land squarely on top of another ship, finally revealing the blood-red form of Evangelion Unit 02 wearing the tarpaulin like a cloak.) Shinji: (over the comms) There it is!! Misato: Shinji? Are you in there too? Shinji: Yes ma’am! Hi!! Admiral: You’re violating my authority!! Misato: (wrestling with the Admiral for the mike) Who gives a damn about your procedures, this is an emergency! XO: Dear lord, the EVA’s still using B-TYPE equipment!! Misato/Admiral: What?! ---------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------- (Inside Unit 02’s entry plug.) Shinji: We’ve only got one minute of power left!! Asuka: I’m well aware of that, Third Child. Misato!! Get the power supply up onto the flight deck!! Misato: (over the comms) I’m on it!! Shinji: If we fall into the water using B-TYPE equipment, we’re done for!! Asuka: Then we won’t do that. Misato: Asuka, it’s coming right for you!! Take off!! Asuka: Right!! Let’s play hopscotch! Shinji: Hopscotch?! (Suddenly, Unit 02 leaps into the air, shedding it’s tarpaulin as it lands on another destroyer’s front only to leap off again, heading for the Over the Rainbow.) Tech: Power supply is ready! Asuka: EVA Unit 02!! Incoming!!! Shinji: Arrrgghh!!! (With an almighty crash, EVA Unit 02 lands neatly on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier. For a moment, the ship tilts crazilly to one side...until Asuka rights it again by leaning the EVA backwards. One moment later, Asuka has fixed the power supply cable to the EVA’s back.) Asuka: Power supply fixed. Here it comes!! (Indeed, as Unit 02 straightens up, it sees the huge Angel coming straight for them.) Shinji: It’s gigantic!! Asuka: The bigger they are.... (Up on the bridge.) Admiral: What’s she doing now?!! Misato: Hand to hand combat is the best way to defeat the Angels! (Back in the plug.) Shinji: We don’t have any guns!! Asuka: The progressive knife ought to do it!! (The EVA’s left shoulder pauldron opens to reveal a huge knife, which the EVA takes in hand. Holding it out in front, the blade begins to hum as the power courses through it. Suddenly, the Angel leaps out of the water, and crashes onto the flight deck, shaking the entire ship. Unit 02 drops it’s progressive knife, which hits the deck and slices a fighter in half.) Misato: Lookin’ good, Asuka! Admiral: This isn’t a game!! Look what you’re doing to my flight deck!! (Suddenly, the EVA steps onto a loading ramp- That promptly gives way. And with a scream of surprise, both EVA and Angel fall off the side of the ship.) XO: EVA Unit 02 has gone below the waterline!! Admiral: (groans in defeat.) Misato: Asuka!! You can’t fight underwater using B-TYPE equipment!! Asuka: You know what they say! There’s always a first time for everything! ------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- (Beneath the ocean, the EVA is pulled along by the Angel underwater, dragged along by it’s immense undertow. As it speeds along, the Angel does it’s best to smash the EVA into the ground Misato: How much cable is left?! XO: 2000 meters!! Misato: Asuka!! You’re about to run out of cable!! Get braced for the shock!! (With an allmighty crunch, the huge cable reel slams to a halt, as does the EVA. The huge shock jars the EVA loose, which then begins to float listlessly in the water.) (Suddenly, a voice gets Misato’s attention.) Kagi: Hey, Katsuragi!! (Misato looks out a window as a A4 Harrier appears on the deck, propelled by a rising deck plate. In the cockpit, Kagi can be seen in the back seat.) Misato: Kagi!! Kagi: I’ve got a delivery to make, so I’ll be taking off now.... Misato: WHAT?!!! Kagi: Well, let’s get moving. (But the pilot of the fighter does not move to take off.) Kagi: Hey!! I said let’s get going? Can’t you hear me? (Suddenly, a voice responds: but it is not the one Kagi expects or wants.) Pilot: The only place you’re going is hell if you think you’re abandoning ship now, pal!!! Kagi: (In horror) MATT?!!! Misato: (In jubilation) MATT?!!! (The pilot opens his visor to reveal that it is indeed Matt at controls of the fighter.) Matt: Correct. And you aren’t going anywhere. I don’t think Commander Ikari would be too pleased with you just abandoning his command staff like this. Let’s go back into the hanger, shall we? Kagi: I’LL SEE YOU HANG FOR THIS, GODAMMIT!!! Matt: Well, you can try. Good luck, Misato! Misato: Good job, Matt!! (As the Harrier lowers back below the deck, Misato returns her attention to the scene at hand.) XO: Admiral!! The target is approaching EVA rapidly!! Shinji: Here it comes!! Asuka: Right!! I’ll finish it this time!! (But as the young EVA pilot pulls on the butterfly handles at either side of her seat, her commands go unheaded, as the EVA continues to float.) Asuka: Hey!! What’s wrong?! Shinji: It’s B-TYPE equipment... Asuka: What’re you going to do? Shinji: What am I?! Asuka: You’re the famous Third Child, do something!! (Shinji is about to respond when he remembers the Angel. Looking out the forward viewer, he sees it approaching at high speed.) Shinji: Look!!! (As the two children watch, the Angel opens it’s huge mouth, revealing a huge set of long sharp teeth.) Asuka: (recoiling in horror) Teeth?!! Shinji: It’s an Angel!! (The Angel flies at the EVA at nearly the speed of sound, jaws clamping down on the EVA’s waist, it’s teeth passing straight through. Asuka and Shinji are thrown around in the entry-plug as the EVA is dragged along by the Angel again.) XO: EVA has entered the target’s body!! Touji: Does that mean the EVA’s been eaten?! Shinji: Oh man, things couldn’t get any worse!! Asuka: Stop being such a pessimist!! (Suddenly, she realises where Shinji has moved to.) Asuka: And get out of my lap, you pervert!! (As Asuka tries to push him out of the seat, Shinji struggles to hold on.) Shinji: NNGGH!! We’ve got to free ourselves!! (Meanwhile, above..) Admiral: What are you going to do now? Misato: We’ll deal with it!! Touji: This is like morlon fishing.... (Suddenly, Misato straightens, after hearing Touji, her face bright with an idea.) Misato: Fishing? THAT’S IT!!! (Back in the entry-plug....Asuka is now hammering at Shinji’s head, pulling his hair.) Asuka: NNNGG!! DON’T OPERATE MY EVA WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!! Misato: (over the comm) Shinji!! Asuka!! Don’t let that Angel get away!! Shinji/Asuka: What?! (Back above..) Misato: Well, Admiral.. Admiral: What now? Misato: I’m going to need your cooperation. --------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------- (After Misato has briefly outlined her plan...Matt has returned to the bridge.) Admiral: A point-blank assault with the two surviving battleships?!! Misato: Correct. We’ll sink the destroyers in line with the target. Then, the EVA will open the targets mouth, allowing the two ships to enter. Then, we remote fire the battleship’s cannons, destroying the target. Admiral: That’s insane!! Misato: Insane, yes. But we have no other choice. (The Admiral lowers his head, looking away, before he finally responds.) Admiral: I understand. ------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- -------------------------------- (A short time later, the two battleships have been evacuated and scuttled, and slowly, the two begin to sink, directly in line with the quickly approaching Angel.) Misato: Asuka!! Shinji!! Do you understand the operation?!! Shinji: (still being beaten by Asuka) AARRRGH!! I’ll do the best job I can!!! (The cable is reeled back in, dragging the EVA and Angel up towards the surface. As Shinji pulls back on the controls, Asuka finally stops hitting him.) Asuka: Grr!! Are you rubbing against me on purpose?!! Cut it out, dork!! Shinji: We’ve got to open it’s mouth!! Asuka: Let’s just concentrate on the task, shall we? Shinji: Works for me!! (As Asuka pulls the two handles back, she releases the safety catches, pushing the EVA’s arms to their limit. Shinji’s hands join her on the handles, and together, they struggle to pull the handles back towards them.) XO: The ships are sinking rapidly! Contact in twenty seconds!! (Shinji and Asuka pull the handles as one, the only thought in their minds the same...) Shinji/Asuka: (thinking) Open, open, open, open!!!!! (Suddenly, inside the plug, the synchro meter goes off the chart as the two pilots miraculously synch together to control the EVA. Outside, the EVA’s four eyes suddenly glow bright in the dark water, and the EVA, using all it’s strength, forces the Angel’s huge jaws apart, it’s huge teeth pulling free of the EVA. With a sickening crunch, the two battleships crash into the Angel’s mouth, shattering teeth and bone aside as the ram home down the Angel’s throat.) Misato: FIRE!!! (With a huge series of BOOM’s, the cannons on the battleships fire, filling the Angel full of deadly explosive shells. For a time, the Angel’s form simply bloats as it fills with explosive firepower. Then as it’s body finally gives way to the laws of physics, it explodes, causing a huge kilometer long explosion in the water that propells the EVA high into the air, where it lands with a CRUNCH on the deck of the Over the Rainbow. As the huge blast wave sends spray hundreds of meters into the sky, the EVA, having exhausted it’s power supply, drops to it’s knees, and falls onto it’s front, finally silent.) --------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- (A few days later, in the New Yokosuka harbour, the badly battered Aircraft Carrier Over the Rainbow finally pulls into the harbour. As the EVA is lowered from the ship onto a waiting flatbed truck, it’s huge blood red form can be seen to have several huge puncture marks, scars from it’s first battle. Touji Suzahara and Kenske Aida watch as the EVA is lowered, while Asuka glides past them on the escalator, admiring the view. Suddenly, Touji spots Shinji still wearing one of Asuka’s plug suits, meant for a feminine form, and laughs, drawing the ever-camera-weilding Kenske’s attention.) Touji: Look!!!! Kenske: Ha ha, nice figure!! (Meanwhile, already on a jeep heading back to Tokyo-3, Misato relaxes in the back seat, next to Ritsuko. Matt sits in the front seat, not driving.) Ritsuko: (admiring the dents and holes in the ship’s side) My my, looks like you’ve been up to a bit. Misato: An Angel attack. I should have been ready... Ritsuko: You’re apologising? Misato: Oh, shut up. At least we got some good data on Unit 2. (Ritsuko agrees, looking over the data from the encounter.) Ritsuko: I see.....Misato? Misato: Hmm? Rtsuko: This is good.... (Suddenly, the car comes to a halt as Asuka runs up to Misato.) Asuka: Hey!! Where’s Kagi? Misato: (leaning forwards, angrilly) He took a pouter: Left by himself, that jerk!! Matt: He’s probably back at NERV by now... ----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- ----------------------- (Meanwhile, deep in the office of Gendo Ikari...two figures stand over a desk, observing a small object one of them has brought with him.) Kagi: My my, that was an exciting trip...was it caused by this? I wonder... (Kagi walks around the desk, and opens the case, revealing a small organism.) Kagi: Well, it’s regenerated itself thus far. It’s frozen but it’s still alive. Quite remarkable. This is the keystone for the Human Instrumentality Project, isn’t it? Gendo: (Looking up at Kagi with satisfaction) Correct. This is the first Angel. Touji: I’m glad we’ve seen the last of her...she was a babe, but a real dog if you know what I mean.... Kenske: I just feel sorry for Shinji...he’s gotta see her every day when he goes to work... Touji: Yeah, I feel sorry for you, pal. (Suddenly, a figure writing her name on the blackboard gets their attention. As they see who it is, Touji crashes from his seat onto the floor, only to leap to his feet straight afterwards, pointing at the girl.) Touji: LOOK!!! (For writing her name on the board is none other than Asuka Langley Soryu, the Third Child. As the three boys feel the shock etching itself on their faces, Asuka turns and smiles at the class.) Asuka: Hi! I’m Asuka! Asuka Langley Soryu!!
