Jump, Little Children got their name from an 1963 song by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. For six years Jump was one of the best unsigned bands. But last year they signed with Alantic Breaking Records. The band contains five extremely talented, lusted after, with outrageous fashion sense guys: Jay Clifford, Jonathan Gray, Ward Williams, Evan Bivins, and Matthew Bivins. Four of these guys attended the North Carolina School of Arts in North Carolina. They joined together, sick of playing classical music, and started their new lives. They went to Ireland for a couple of months and performed. They settled in Boston at first and ended up making a new home for themselves in the beautiful and lively Charleston, SC in 1994. Later Jonathan joined the band. I don't think you can label J,LC's sound under one music category. They have been described as "Acoustic Funk Pop," "Homegrown Funk-Pop with a twist," or "Irish Folk/Delta Blues/Funk/Pop." Whatever you want to call it, it pretty much boils down to five outrageous guys with TONS of talent. |
