haha.

i LOVE this idea:

in observation of presidents' day, make a donation to planned parenthood or another pro-choice group in honor of dubya.

i just did and you should too!

how productive! yet at the same time it will give dubya a mental kick in the ass!

oh and to make this day even better (though it started out shitty), all of my grad school apps are in.

sent...

now i just need to wait for the letters of rejection, cause i know they're coming...

phew.

so all is good in karenland.

the problem that's been eating me alive for over a week is solved. i can finally listen to ice without losing it again. phew.

a HUGE boulder has been lifted off my shoulders.

oh yeah, and BAF's da bomb!

ok, so i lock my cat up in the bathroom because she is being "bad."

where do i find her when i open the door to let her out?

loungin' in the bathtub!

sorry about that last post. i have just had strange memories running through my head all day. hummm...i wonder why? (yes, that was sarcastic).

anyway, i have some really exciting (for karen's strange and crazy world) news. i petted a little baby gator today! yep! his name was kong and he was 4 years old. about 4 feet long (maybe less) and he had the cutest little grin. oh, is kristin gonna be jealous! i petted a lil' baby alligator!

it is my new goal in life to earn enough money to be able to keep my own pet alligator one day. the woman who was holding the gator explained that yes, people do keep them for pets (you gotta tame them). but anyone who plans to purchase a pet gator needs to have enough resources to purchase a HUGE mutherfucken tank for the reptile. the living area needs to be larger than a bathtub.

so i need to make mucho dinero so that one day i too can have my very own pet alligator! == chomp ==

two issues:

1. what to name the gator (if you have suggestions, please do let me know)

and

2. how will frisco (my kitty) get along with her new sister or brother reptile?

==chomp==

not exactly my favorite sarah song, but i do feel this needs to be posted tonight:

Ice

The ice is thin come on dive in
underneath my lucid skin.
The cold is lost, forgotten.

Hours pass days pass time stands still
light gets dark and darkness fills
my secret heart forbidden...

I think you worried for me then
the subtler ways that I'd give in
but I know you liked the show.

Tied down to this bed of shame
you tried to move around the pain
but oh your soul is anchored.

The only comfort is
the moving of the river.
You enter into me
a lie upon your lips.
Offer what you can
I'll take all that I can get
only a fool's here...

I dont like your tragic sighs
as if your god has passed you by
well hey fool that's your deception.

Your angels speak with jilted tongue
the serpent's tale has come undone
you have no strength to squander.

The only comfort is
the moving of the river.
You enter into me
a lie upon your lips.
Offer what you can
I'll take all that I can get
only a fool's here to stay.

Only a fool's here to stay.

Only a fool's here...

while listening to "ice" by sarah mclachlan, i nearly lost it.

you know who you are.

i miss you like hell. can you at least tell me what's wrong? or is that too much to ask. . . (?)

so i updated my favorite reads section and added there are no children here by alex kotlowitz.

you should really read it. especially if you live in a city which has public housing. sad sad story, but at the same time quite uplifting. these people have nothing yet they don't complain nearly as much as the spoiled, snotty, surburbanites.

it will also most likely give you a different view on public housing and the people who live there.
