Warning AOL Users: If you have refrences to the Indigo Girls in your profile, be on the lookout for the screen name Misfits KE. This person is pretending to be Amy Ray. She IM's IG fans with IG refrences in their profiles. She is NOT Amy Ray. Don't be fooled by her. If she tries to fuck with you, report her to AOL ASAP!
procrastination...yeah, that is my life. i covered a lot of ground, but right now, i can not convince myself to do more. i am sleeeeeeeeepy. and fucken cold. sleepy and cold. how grand!

grrrr... more aol (ao-hell) problems. at least i bitched enough that they are giving me 2 months of free service.
so i'm reading this lonely planet book about trekking across asia. one day i would like to do that. take a year off of work (professors get sabbaticals! whoo yah!) or school and just backpack across southeast and east asia (central asia is not a top priority). start in good ol' familiar japan, head to korea, china, laos, vietnam, thailand, malaysia, singapore, and indonesia. (i'd need a whole year...what an itenary!) anyway, this book also has great advice on ecotourism, respecting the locals, culture shock, etc. i will soon post some of it to my travel page. this spring, japan (and korea?!?!) here i come (back...)! one day the rest of east and all of southeast asia better get ready for me! (or more like, i better get ready for them. whatever!) Sunday, December 03, 2000
a response to one of those rude entries in my guestbook: (i'm gonna start doing this more often...) the entry: my response: also, everyone who works at borders is either a) college educated (some beyond a BA) b) enrolled in college currently or c) planning on going to college. working at a bookstore requires me to be well read. and since i work in the travel section, i must also be well traveled and capable of giving advice when asked. but maybe if you looked around you would see most liberal arts college graduates working in a field that has NOTHING to do with what they have studied. the fact is, it is hard to find a job, even for a college graduate. no, i do not plan to make a career out of borders. but at the same time, i needed to save up some money for graduate school and i also just needed a year off to relax my brain. so next time you start smarting off in someone's guestbook, maybe you should read the entire content of one's website and not be so judgemental...
i checked out the rough guide: japan from borders yesterday. i really used to hate the rough guide series, but this book on japan seems informative. i might have to purchase it...
i spent a good part of this morning downlaoding MP3's from napster. now, usually i hate digital music, but if i do get a cd burner, i can actually take the songs off my computer and put them onto something tangible and portable. anyway, here is my new short list: jess klein- ireland i am working on getting some kris delmhorst right now... |
