Jenn: What do you consider to be your ideal friend? Kim: Someone who cares about me and isn't afraid to ask if something's wrong, someone I can tell my darkest secrets to and they linke me anyway. Jenn: What's your favorite color? (just because I wanted to ask it) Kim: Again, too many to list but they include pink, black, purple, red and midnight blue. Jenn: How long have you been crossdressing? Kim: I've been a crossdresser since I was in my teens but I've always felt "different" since I was in the first grade. Jenn: When did you...or what made you want to decide and crossdress and become someone like Kim? Kim: Well, it isn't something you decide to do exactly. The desire is there and you choose to deny it or try and find out more about it. the problem is that, if you deny it, the desire never goes away. It just becomes stronger. (at least it was that way in my case...others might have slightly different stories) Jenn: What is it about crossdressing that you like...or in what way is crossdressing satisfying to you? Kim: It helps me express a side of myself that I wouldn't be able to express normally. It helps me become a whole person in many ways. Jenn: Would you say you have a split personality? Kim: I wouldn't say it's a split personality exactly. It's more like we're two sides to the same mind. If you look at a coin, you'll see what I mean. Two different sides that make up the whole. Jenn: Are you and Kim different? Kim: In some ways, yes we are. She's a little more emotional than I am and I think she has a better temper than I do. Jenn: In what way are you two the same? Kim: We both are caring people and will do everything we can to help someone. It doesn't matter if it's giving a hug, letting someone bend our ear or offering advice. If we can help, we do our best. Jenn: When you're Kim does your point of view change? Kim: It does change a little. I tend to notice another ladies outfit more than I would normally. I think I'm a little more sensitive and can appreciate the beauty of things a little more. Jenn" Have you ever felt discouraged when going out in public dressed as Kim? Or don't you go out at all dressed like that? Kim: I do go oout sometimes and I haven't been discouraged yet. Nervous maybe but not discouraged. There is a support group that meets on Saturdays that I attend when I'm able to and I try to get out at other times if I can. Many of us feel that by going out in public and showing that we're just average people, the rest of society will begin to understand that we're not the dangerous freaks we seem to be and that opinion is based on fear and a lack of information about us. Jenn: Does it bother you when people make fun of you? Can you give me an example? Kim: As yet, I haven't heard anyone making fun of me but I'm sure there have been some who had a few things to say after they saw me out dressed as a woman. While it does bother me a little that some rude comments are (more likely than not) being made, it's something that will happen regardless and we can't do much about it. No matter how many people we talk to, there will be those who won't try to understand. |
