About Me

My name is Kaytlyn, Kayti, Katy, KT, etc. I was born on December 30th, 1986, at 6:44 pm Atlantic Standard Time in Fredericton, New Brunswick, to Rob and Lynn LeBlanc. Unknown to me at the time (being a new born), I already had one brother, two years my senior: Ryan. We lived in Oromocto, since my father was a military captain.

In 1988 we were posted to CFB Lahr in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. We lived there for three years (I started junior kindergarten at the age of 3) until we were posted back to Canada, in 1991 (this time in Saint John, NB). It was in Saint John that I developed bronchitis, a condition that has plagued me every year of my life since. I attended East Saint John Elementary School for kindergarten, and then took my first three grades at Milledgeville North – a French immersion elementary junior high school.

We were once again posted in 1995, to Calgary, Alberta. I attended the fourth grade at Currie Elementary on the base, then grades 5 and 6 at Saint James School – a Catholic school. While there were no nuns, I’d like to say that I have never heard more cursing come from a teacher’s mouth as I did at that Catholic school.

In 1998 we were yet again posted (a staple of military life, and I was second generation), back to Oromocto. I was 11. It was only later that it became known to me that my father was cheating on my mother at the time with the wife of a superior officer. Dad vanished one night shortly after Christmas and before my birthday, and never lived with us again. He currently resides in Victoria, British Columbia, with his wife of five years, Lauren, and her 9 year old son, Joseph.

I attended Harold Peterson Middle School for two years in Oromocto, before taking the 9th and 10th grades at Oromocto High School. My mother met her current husband, Patrick, around that time. He has two children who live with their mother: Jacob, 3 years my junior, and Noah, 7 years younger. In April of 2002 we moved to Yoho, NB, though my brother finished high school that year at OHS. I took my last two years of school at Harvey High, graduation in 2004 (we moved into the village of Harvey in April of 2003). This was where I met my best friend in the whole world, Jackie Nicholson. We share everything with each other – even the disgusting things that nobody else wants to know about themselves, let alone another person. When we attend our 20 year reunion for high school, I’m certain there will be people whispering to each other, “Oh my god, are they lesbians?”

After high school I moved back to Saint John to attend New Brunswick Community College. I attended for three years, taking Computer Programming Technology, and successfully completed the coursework in April of 2007. I am currently on my co-op work position at Point Lepreau, the nuclear generation station.

At the beginning of my third year I met a first year by the name of Addison Rennick. He was very odd, very lanky, and extraordinarily intelligent. He had so many interesting stories: he was home schooled, he broke his neck at the age of 16, he’d been hit by a minivan a year later, yet he was still in perfect physical condition (if you don’t count the fact that he only has 80% strength on the right side of his body). Just before Thanksgiving, he asked me out. I literally laughed in his face as soon as he asked – but I accepted! It hasn’t stopped since then. Addison and I have been engaged since January of this year, and have lived together since November of 2006. I don’t think I could love anyone or anything more than I love this man, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
