Web Assignment 3 "The State of My Faith" |
||||||||||||||
I honestly do not think I have a great deal of faith in my life, secular or Spiritual. I do have a lot of faith in my friends in that I trust them to always be there for me when I need their help and I can always go to them for advice when I need it. Sometimes that is misplaced though and I go to one of them seeking advice and I get turned away and then the friendship just falls apart. That might be because sometimes I am a little too trusting and believe people's words and actions; many times I've been led to believe someone is a good friend of mine only to find out that person doesn't feel the same way about our friendship and thinks of it more as an acquaintance or a distant friend. I guess I have faith in my family, more towards my two older sisters though because I feel I can talk to them about my life with all the parties, drugs, and alcohol because they've been there and are still there somewhat so I trust their judgement. The disadvantage is that they are girls though so I don't talk to them about guy stuff or about other girls because that makes me feel awkward and uncomfortable. I hardly ever talk to my parents about problems in my life because I don't feel the need or maybe because I think they'll flip out when I tell them certain things like about parties or alchohol. It's so much easier to talk to someone closer to my age. I do not have much faith, if any at all, in our society, U.S. mainly. I just see the state of our country going down and down with people only worried about making money or appealing to the crowd in case of politics and then once in office never doing much to change anything, with a few exceptions. All of televison and media is becoming trashier as the days go on but people are still somehow entertained by it and so then it teaches the young kids to be like the people on tv. I think less kids are reading and they are instead choosing to play video games all day or in some cases start drugs that much earlier. Overall I just don't have much faith that our society is going to improve or do anything to improve the world and itself anytime soon. I do have faith in myself, if I didn't I think I would be doing horrible in everything I did. A person has to have some confidence in themselves in order to succeed and so I think I have faith in myself in the matters of school work, sports, and balancing friends and family. My Faith is an area of my life that could use some improvement. I do go to Mass quite often and I usually do participate. I am trying to really get into the ceremony ever since theology class this year and learning what it is really all about instead of just repeating the words not knowing what they symbolized like what I used to do. However, there are times everyday where I seem to just forget about God all together. I need to try to communicate with Him on the daily basis, some of my friends have told me about how they try to talk to God every morning when they wakeup and then every night before they goto sleep. Also, now in the summer since I have all this free time, it probably couldn't hurt to get rid of all my destractions and meditate for like 10 minutes just to think about life and God, I haven't done that in a long time. I do have Faith in God, the biggest problem I have though is hypothetical in that what if He doesn't actually exist, at least not as we see Him. What is everything we belive in as Catholics is wrong and it is actually the Hindus who are right, what happens to us then? I guess there is no real way of knowing that and I just have to strengthen my Faith and put my trust in God. |
