1. There are two kinds of faith: faith and Faith. Little "f" faith is the secular version which is belief and complete trust in someone or something, without one hundred percent certainty in the object. Faith, (big "F"), is the version pertaining to religion. The concept of Faith taken from the Bible consists of four parts: that it is not totally intellectual and is more of a loving trust, it involves periods of doubt and struggle, involves risk, and it is an ongoing process. The Catholic definition of Faith is that it is an intellectual assent to a loving God and His Revelation, it also goes deeper and has seven key ideas about it. We believe that Faith is a gift from God, requires our response to it, is a risk, is reasonable, has some certainty to it, seeks understanding, and it is a virtue. Finally, the Golden Way to believing in anything in the world is faith or beliefs supported by reason. The two big other options are nihilism, reason without beliefs, or radicalism, belief without reason; and these two do not work because nihilism contradicts itself by denying all truth except the one that their belief is true and radicalism is too nieve to work because it functions with no reason and we need to reasoning in our lives. 2. A.) I want to remember to keep reasoning in my faith so that I don't follow some people blindly or become a radicalist and act as I am Christian but have no reason or evidence to defend that. Having reason wihtth my faith will help me to follow the Golden Way. B.) I hope to keep the idea of people having different kinds of faith and acting upon them differently that was displayed in The Mission. This is important because it helps me to develop my search for different perspectives on things in the world. C.) I just want to remember all seven of the important virtues: temperance, prudence, justice, fortitude, faith, hope, and love because they will help me to live a better life. 3. 4. Is there reasoning in my Faith, or faith? Do I just say I'm a Catholic because I was born into it, or do I really have my own reasons? 5. I should try to practice all of the Cardinal and Theological Virtues. I should also examine all the faith in my life, if it is rightly placed and are others' faith in me rightly placed. I should try to reason more in my faith and Faith so that I don't become a radical. |
