Barenaked Bash Goers – Check this out…
This is for all those coming to the Barenaked Bash (::PLUG:: JUNE 21-23, 2002, TORONTO, ONTARIO ::ENDPLUG::)
Listen Up!
I am hoping to create a picture-college of members of Barenaked.net, Barenaked Chatter, bnlmusic.com and any other message-board people that plan on making it out for the bash! The collage will be displayed at the entrance to the bash during registration, and hopefully also throughout the weekend…It is a way to get to see who other members are in ‘real-life’ at a glance J
This is ENTIRELY OPTIONAL, but will work better if there are a large numbers of submissions! (I’ve never seen a collage of only two pictures…;))
Not sure if your coming or not? Sitting on the fence over it? You can still send in a pic if you want J
First of all…Some guidelines…
1) As tempting as it may be, try not to send pics of yourself with members of BNL. Other wise, we’ll have Ed and Steve’s heads showing up about a 100 times each…but pics with other people from the board are OK…if you comply with rule number 2:
2) If you are not the only person in the picture, be sure that you have the permission of the other people/person in the pic. Also, if the pic is you with other people from the board its ok if not everyone in the pic is planning on attending. It’s also ok if there is overlap here…
3) This shouldn’t have to be said…I hope…but nothing obscene, please…
Can you handle that? I thought so…
So…here’s the part you’ve been waiting for…
If you would like your picture(s) – yes you may send in 2 or 3 if you want…
For EACH pic you send..do the following:
1 – Include the names (first name...last name only if you want to…) AND screen names of everyone in the picture. Also include which board(s) you post on (if you use multiple names at different boards, you can pick one, or include them all…)
2 – If you want, you can include a little “factoid” of information or two about yourself…BNL related or not (ie: I flew from overseas to be here; I’ve seen 50 bnl concerts…)
3 – Give me some way to contact you if I need to…ICQ, AIM, e-mail..etc…just in case…
Finally…Right now, I’m asking that you drop your pictures in a mailbox no latter then MARCH 10, 2002…3 months…PLENTY of time J
Why? The address I’m giving you is my on-campus PO Box at University, and I’ll only be at this address until Mid-April…I don’t want any pics arriving after I’ve moved back home J This will also give me about a month to actually put the collage together…
Ok? Made it through all of that? Good for you…
Here’s where to send your pics…

A cookie for you if you made it through all that.
A fruit roll-up if you send a pic in ;)
http://www.brotherscreeggan.com/ is down and has been for a few days now.
No word as to why as of yet. Probably just technical difficulties and with the holidays no one is probably around to fix it.

Blender magazine had an article in this month’s issue and it mentioned BNL. Here is the excerpt:
When the music history of the 90's is written, Barenaked Ladies will merit only a footnote - unless you happened to be a college undergraduate in that decade. This, after all, is a pop-folk band from Toronto that encourage fans at concerts to throw macaroni-and-cheese dinners at them during 'If I Had a Million Dollars'. There is no question that BNL are accomplished pop craftsmen, and the innocuous 1997 hit 'Brian Wilson', as well as 1998's 'One Week' were perfect for those untroubled, prosperous times. BNL helped break the preveailing indie tyranny of cool disaffection - but that was then, and this is now, and it all seems unbearable silly.
Edward Helmore
If this person actually would’ve talked to the band or it’s management he would’ve known that those in the know don’t throw about Kraft dinner. Plus he could’ve gone to 300 websites dedicated to the ladies to realize what a cult following they have and compared them to other cult followings and how huge those bands are now…REM and U2 were labeled college bands, as were BNL, when they started and they’re probably the 2 biggest name bands still producing new music.
