BNL will be Live for a Pay Per View, From the Roseland Ballroom
In NYC, NOV. 30TH. It is for the Great Guiness Toast and some of the proceeds will be going to Charity.
*************************************
It looks as though a few people are trying to put together a BNL convention for 2002. This has been tried in the past and it didn’t pan out.
I have offered my services to help put this together. It is being planned for Toronto. The date has not been set as of yet(please see next news item for more info)
It has been dubbed the Barenaked Bash 2002, and it is being supported by the official fan club of the Barenaked Ladies, The Ladies Room.
For more information please check out http://www.barenakedbash.org/
They are trying a few different sources for fund raises, including sales of a Barenaked cookbook, to help keep costs down. More than likely you will have to pay for hotel, airfare and food. Some events (if not all) will be free or at a very low cost.
In my opinion the only way a lot of people will attend is if 1 or more of the members of BNL will be able to attend some events. Either that or tie it in with a concert and have Bash members get first crack at great seats.
Time will tell what the coordinators will be able to do. Please check out the site and join their message board and offer ideas.
The House of BNL and Barenaked Chatter administrator and moderators are in full support of this convention and will do whatever we can to help it happen.

Currently, we are extremely close to having everything set in stone.
We have decided on the Wyndham Hotel in Toronto. We just have to reserve everything for the date which is June 14-16, 2002.
As of right now this is NOT set in stone, however it should be next week! We just have to get a hold of the correct person at the Wyndham Hotel.

Barenaked on the web
I normally don’t promote other websites unless I get information from them, but I thought that I would promote some BNL related websites that are out there that really put the effort forward to promote the band. These are what I would consider some of the top of the line sites. Of course I think my own are the best but that’s cause they’re mine and I know how much effort went into all of them.

From creeggan_luva on the Chatter:
Ok as I promised my full report (on I&I).
The Barenaked Ladies full of energy and humor as always delivered an excellent performance.
They started out @ Speakers Cornern where it all started and sung a verse or two of Yoko Ono, then they headed into the City building. They kicked the inside performance off with
1. Old Apartment
2. Pinch Me
3. Jane
commercial and then went into answering a few questions... with humor intact naturally
Next
1. One Week
2. Good Boy
3. its all Been Done
4. Brian Wilson
and they talked between these songs joking around.
More questions followed
Next came time to perform
1. Falling For The First Time
2. Million Dollars
although at one point it was kind of funny seeing they couldn’t sing because they were laughing so hard at the " alcohol and rubber balls" joke if u didn’t see it try to its kinda hard to explain but too funny to miss.
They finished they night with
1. Call and answer
all in all a fun performance filled evening enjoyed by all.
Watch for repeats of the performance on Much more music. If u r in Canada. I dunno what it is in US?? anyways!!
Thanks..
and oh by they way The Greatest hits album ROCKS!!! ERS
MuchMusic USA will repeat the show on the 27th at 9 and midnight eastern

Behind The Music will reair at 2am Friday evening and again Saturday at 8AM.
TV Guide online has this to say about the show:
Barenaked Ladies reveal all in this candid profile of Canada's playfully irreverent popsters.
Boasting wry songs like “Be My Yoko Ono,” the combo's 1991 debut CD “Gordon” was an immediate smash in the Great White North. Their U.S. breakthrough waited until 1998 when their spunky hit “One Week” topped the charts. But as this profile details in interviews with band members, just as they began to savor the fruits of their success, keyboardist Kevin Hearn was diagnosed with leukemia. Then, following grueling periods of chemotherapy and a bone-marrow transplant, Hearn returned to perform with the band.

Seems most people were pretty unimpressed with the Regis and Kelly show. They performed One Week, which actually got cut off by sponsor shots. The leading into commercial songs were kinda cool but most people thought playing If I had 1,000,000, Brian Wilson or even Lovers in a Dangerous Time would’ve sparked newer fans to go buy the GH. One Week will make One Weekers think I already have this song why would I need it again. On the other hand maybe the people that kinda liked One Week will go buy the GH knowing that all the songs are gonna at least be decent. I personally thought they should’ve done 2 songs: One Week and Brian Wilson. That would’ve been ideal, but that decision isn’t up to BNL.

From EDSGIRL on the Chatter:
Nov 20th
This was in the local newspaper headlined: Barenaked Ladies plan to toast Guiness for Leukemia Society
"After a bandmate was diagnosed with the disease the band decided to help out."
Los Angeles-On November 30, Canadian rockers the Barenaked Ladies plan to play some tunes, life a pint and raise some money for a good cause.
That day marks the occasin of the 10th anniversary of the Great Guiness Toast, in which consumers 21 and older in participating bars and pubs attempt to break a record by having a huge, simultaneous toast. The current Guiness World Record stands at 450,000 participants.
This year, the event is linked to raising funds for The Leulemia & Lymphoma Society, as part of a monthlong promotion. Guiness has already pleged $100,000 to the cause, and hopes to raise $500,000 more.
DIAGNOSIS:The cause is close to the hearts of the Ladies, as one of the, keyboard/guitarist Kevin Hearn, was diagnosed with leukimia in 1998. He has battled his way back to health, but he hasn't forgotten the work of the dedicated scientists, doctors and researchers who helped him along the way.
So, on Nov. 30, the band performs at New York's Roseland Ballroomas part of a live pay-per-view special. Tickets for the show sold out in 10 minutes; it will be simulcast on radio through Westwood One.
"Do we need a good cause to drink to a Guiness?" Hearn asked."I think if you're going to do a promotional event with Guiness, you need a good cause."
Asked how his leukimia has changed how his fans viewed him, Hearn said "I think my illness and recovery is defiantly a big part of my identity now. I reviever alot of letters
and talk to alot of fans who are dealing with cancer or a serious illness n their family or with their friends.
