Ed & Jim react to 9/11.
"Terror is infectious. Hatred is poisonous. Don't let the sickness in
to your heart, or your head.
Some wicked people have committed unthinkable crimes against a great
community. Those criminal terrorists are not part of our community,
but there are many people who look like them, Many who talk, and
dress like them. Many who share a religion with them. The many within
our community have come here for the promise of a better place... A
better life.
Let's join together and prove that this IS a better place to live.
Don't let the deeds of madmen water the seeds of hatred, and fear.
Our community has been dealt a terrible blow, but we can not let it
destroy us.
Be smart, be strong, be understanding. Don't fracture the diversity
that makes this community great. We all share in this responsibility.
We have an opportunity to prove to the world that this community is
not just mighty with the sword, but with head, and heart as well.
Tell everybody you care about that you love them, tell everybody you
know that they matter to you, and tell strangers that they are part
of your community. We are ALL in this together."

"As rescue workers are currently trying to recover survivors from the
rubble, it's hard to know what to do or think.
A terrible senseless act has been committed to innocent people, an
act seemingly designed to spread terror and hate.
The best thing I think we can do at this time is concentrate on
supporting one another. Friends, family, anyone you meet. We're all
in this together.
It's too easy to let the heaviness of the situation make us snap. No
one can win in a game of terror. I think this applies in a national
context as well as a personal one.
The right path can't be chosen in a state of panic. I hope all are
well."

Barenaked Ladies - "Falling for the first time" is banned from a
number of US
ClearChannel Radio stations because of its lyrics. The song is a love
song, with
a positive message, what are these radio stations doing? are they
over reacting
to last weeks horror? They are hurting a band who has done much and
continues to
do allot to help people in need.
We need all of our fans support, please help us rectify this
situation of
censoring gone wrong by phoning your local radio station and
requesting that
they start playing the song again.
Take care,
Terry McBride

- The world's largest radio network has generated for its radio
stations a
staggering list of rock songs and pop songs with words presumably
inappropriate
for the airwaves in light of last week's terrorist attacks, including
such
near-standards as John Lennon's "Imagine," Led Zeppelin's "Stairway
To Heaven,"
and Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World."
The list, from industry leader Clear Channel, amasses approximately
150 songs
considered "lyrically inappropriate".

Kevin Hearn and Thinbuckle
The following is an e-mail from Derek...
Greetings and Salutations All
Well, BuckleWorld is indeed about to embark on a journey. The lineup
will be a twin bill of "Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle" and "The
Rheostatics". And a VERY special guest, who shall, for the moment,
remain a mystery.
And the dates are (drum roll please)...
October 23 Edmonton, Alberta @ the University of Alberta
October 24 Calgary, Alberta @ the University of Calgary
October 26 Victoria, British Columbia @ the University of Victoria
October 27 Vancouver, British Columbia @ The Commodore
October 28 Seattle, Washington @ tba*
November 3 Ottawa, Ontario @ tba
November 4 Kingston, Ontario @ tba
November 5 Detroit, Michigan @ tba
November 6 Buffalo, New York @ tba
November 7 - November 11 Toronto, Ontario @ The Horseshoe
The Rheostatics continue playing at the Horseshoe until November 18.
You will have no doubt noticed that there are a couple of days
missing
here. Well, we at BuckleWorld are looking into filling these days in,
and will let you all know what becomes of that. And, of course,
things
can change. For instance the Seattle show is still in a sort of
limbo,
but I'm hoping that I get see the home of the SuperSonics. So please,
please, (me woo ya), don't be mad if a date or two are different in
the
end. I shall do my darndest to let everyone know of shifts in the
schedule.
In other Thin Buckle news, that miracle of modern guitarisms, Martin
Tielli, has a solo cd entitled "We Didn't Even Suspect That He Was
The
Poppy Salesman" that is now available. Check your local stores, or
try
at www.lodestarmusic.com, www.maplemusic.com, or www.hmv.com., or any
number of online music purchasing type sites.
Martin will also be playing the following shows:
Toronto: Thurs. Sept. 13, Horseshoe Tavern, with Luke Doucet
supporting
Hamilton: Fri. Sept. 14, The Casbah, with Luke Doucet and Duotang
supporting
London: Sat. Sept. 15, Call the Office, with Luke Doucet supporting
Ottawa: Sun. Sept. 16, Acoustic Waves Series, Great Canadian Theatre,
with Snailhouse supporting
Montreal: Thurs. Sept. 20, Club Zone, with Iz Cox supporting
Kingston: Sat. Sept. 22, Scherzo Pub, with Iz Cox supporting
Peterborough: Sun. Sept. 23, Gordon Best Theatre, with Paul McLeod
supporting
Waterloo: Sat. Sept. 29-30, Jane Bond, with Mia Sheard supporting
(29)
and with Iz Cox supporting (30)
(I realize that a few of one or two of these shows will have passed
before you recieve this. But with this week being what it has been, I
hope that you can forgive this blip)
Our favourite bass player, Chris Gartner, will be in Texas in October
with "Tasa" (www.tasamusic.com), for the official U.S. release of
their
cd "Bhakti". I'll be passing along the dates and venues as soon as I
have confirmation of said. There are many words that can be used to
describe this group, but I think the most accurate is "Spectacular".
An
album to be heard, and a band that is definitely worth seeing, as
well
as hearing.
And, of course, Kevin Hearn, that wizard of everything, will be
following up our tour with some events with a little combo
called "The
BareNaked Ladies". If you haven't heard them, well, perhaps you
should
give them a try. A dandy lot of lads they are indeed.
I would like to pass along to all, on behalf of the band, our
sincerest
thanks to all who have written in the past few days. It has been
somewhat remarkable to witness the strength of spirit that resides
amongst all of you. Thank you all very much. Come what may, faith
endures.
Now play nice with each other
and remember to Buckle Up For Safety

Brothers Creegan Info
August 2001
Hello,
Thanks for tuning in. Over the summer we /the bros/ were off living
seperate lives. I was combing the USA with the Ladies, while Andy was
having down time in Moncton. We did however manage to scheme up a
plan for the fall.
Some new songs have begun to present themselves over the passed year,
and it's about time we let them fly out into the world. We're heading
in the studio to record in Oct. But before then, to give the songs
some live experience, we're doing a 4 date tour in the North East.
The tour will be from Sept. 8th to Sept. 11th. Check out the
specifics below. Hope the summer didn't fry anyone too badly. Unless
of course you're into frying.
Hope to see you in September.
Jimc
