Jim got married on July 5th

Jimmy C's wedding
I just recently served at the Jim Creegan/Anna Hill wedding at Arowhon Pines on July 5th. It was such an amazing wedding and I was very impressed with how polite and down-to-earth the guys all were. Steve's kids were a little out-of-control, but it still such an amazing experience. They are awesome musicians and wonderful people. I wish Jim and Anna all the best!

Bayfest in Sarnia
They opened with It's All Been Done and the encore was Brian Wilson and Call & Answer. The rest of the concert was pretty much classic BNL with the addition of a brand new song, "Testing 1,2,3" and they also played Blame It On Me off of Gordon. The show kicked asses.

Barenaked Ladies
What would you do if you had a million dollars, aside from "be rich," that is? Would you ditch The Old Apartment for One Week and go on a cruise? Nah, It’s All Been Done… just ask Jane, Enid, or Brian Wilson. OK, so the song references are a little weak, but you have to know what band we’re hinting at – that’s right, Canada’s own dream team, Barenaked Ladies. And we know that all the members of BNL are rich by now, seeing as they exploded into mainstream-success-land (also known as the U.S.A.) about five years ago, with their fifth full-length studio album, Stunt. Never mind the fact that Canada has been digging the Ladies’ unique brand of ironic-alt-rock since the late ‘80s.
And finally, after a three-year studio hiatus following the release of 2000’s Maroon, the Ladies are back in action and ready to deliver their seventh full-lengther this fall. Titled Everything To Everyone, the album will tentatively hit stores on October 21. Everything To Everyone was recorded and mastered in L.A. and was mixed by Mike Shipley (who has also worked with Queen, Def Leppard and Shania Twain, among others). According to the band’s online web log, the finishing touches were put on the new material back in June. So now, fans just get to play the waiting game.
The final tracklisting has yet to be released, but for curious uber-fans across the nation, a few of the song titles include "Take It Outside," "Celebrity" and "War On Drugs." According to a recent entry by guitarist Ed Robertson, the latter is "a long and complex piece, in the vein of ‘Call And Answer’… not thematically, just in terms of musical approach."
There are no current tour plans for the Ladies, though it’s likely they’ll hit the road in the fall to promote the new album. Also, if you’re going to be in Guelph, ON tonight, you can catch the Ladies live at a special pre-Hillside Festival concert.

Testing 123
Maybe it would be fun
Get a new opinion
Get a little work done
forget

maybe it would be cool
if I rocked it old school
try to break an old rule
?

better than the first time
better than the worst time
if I could just reverse time
I'd be set

(Chorus)
Testing 1, 2, 3...
Can anybody hear me
If I shed the irony,
Would everybody cheer me
If I acted less like me,
Would I be in the clear

She got a new apartment
It's out of the escarpment
and in your glove compartment
are my songs

She hasn't even heard them
since she found out what the words meant
She decided she preferred them
all wrong

Kinda like the last time
with a bunch of really fast rhymes
? (If we're living in the past time or giving in the fast time)
?

(Chorus)

We ?
half as pleasant
as our nostalgia for
?
?(It has to be invented)
?(that's how we ended)

(Chorus)

He's everything that you need
you wiped out on your ten speed
and either he will succeed
or just suck

(Chorus)

Testing 1, 2, 3...

Sat June 21 '03 - SARS Charity info
submitted by Steve
Hey all - I just got back from finishing the album in L.A. yesterday. All that's left to do is master it in NYC on Monday, and then it's done. How bittersweet and anticlimactic to finally be done after all this time. I'll write more about it later, but I'm just on may way out the door to play at the Concert for Toronto at the Skydome. I just want to mention a couple of charities that need cash desperately right now. Statistics Canada says that Toronto has 95,000 hospitality workers (this includes waiters, cooks, chambermaids, maintenance workers, and other hotel and restaurant staff). Approximately 1/3 of these people (30,000!!) have been laid off due to the drop off in Toronto tourism post-SARS. Many of these people are new to Canada, people of colour, many with limited resources or limited education. Another 30,000 have faced greatly reduced hours - watching their hours shrink from five shifts a week to only one. People are being evicted, others are having their utilities cut off, others are being forced to sell their family homes. The food banks are facing lineups out the door. As many of these workers are not eligible to vote, the provincial and federal governments view them as worthless, and have denied any assistance or Employment Insurance relief. This is where we come in. I wish it didn't have to be like this. The Hotel Workers' Union has set up an emergency fund to help their members who are in the direst of situations (they have as many as 2000 members who have lost their livelihoods). All donations are tax-receiptable. It is named "Hospitality Worker's Emergency Relief Fund". The account # is 8063067. People can donate at any Metro Credit Union or they can send a cheque to: Labour Community Services 15 Gervais Drive, #603, Toronto M3C 1Y8 CHARITABLE RECEIPTS will be issued by the LCS for all donations. In the next few weeks, there will be more funds created to help others who have lost their jobs, but the emergency hasn't gone away, and I encourage you to give now if you can at all afford it Also, the Daily Bread Food Bank can always use lots of help, but especially now. Thanks - hope you enjoyed the show!!

I got word the other day from a very reliable source that BNL will start touring behing Everything to Everyone mid November and set designs are already being designed. Being from Buffalo I asked if they would be stopping here and I was informed the date will be right before Christmas either the 22nd or 23rd, but I could not pry a NYE city out of them.
