Journal #5 by Patrick Roy
1. What was the major topic of this chapter?
The main idea of this chapter is that we all need to take risks like Jesus did by eating with the 'unclean', the poor, and downtrotten. We need to treat people better as Jesus taught us to; like he did. He helped anyone in need, he invited them to follow him in his ministry, and he healed and preached to them. All of these things are mentioned in the Gospel of Luke. Another thing is how Jesus sat at the table, while eating, with anyone and everyone including the poor, the hungry, and the unclean. This showed that although Jesus took risks, he had much faith in God and that is how we should be. We are called to be like Jesus and we need to be like him in our everyday lives, whether its helping someone on the side of the road or giving them something to eat.
2. Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
One idea I would like to remember is that Mary is our mother. She was the mother of Jesus and is the mother of us. She was a simple, young, and poor woman who believed and had faith in God. She was a person who loved God and put all of her time and faith into God. She is also an example for us to follow; she sets a good example of discipleship. We need to rember this because she is the mother who wanted to be more like God and we should strive to be more like her and more like God and Jesus.
The second idea I would like to remember is the importance of prayer. From prayer we can gain courage and strength. Whenever Jesus was in times of need, he would pray for help on the right decision to make. Whether it was up on the mountain choosing his apostles or in the Garden of Gethsemane, prayer always helped Jesus reflect upon and make the right answer in his life. Remembering this will help us in times in need in the future when we need to make important decisions in our lives. As said earlier, prayer helps us gain courage and strength. This will lead us to become people who take risks in life.

4. One significant question you have from this chapter. It can be intellectual or personal.
How can I learn to take more risks in life?
Possible Answer: I believe that if I trust God and have faith in him that I won't get hurt and that I won't hurt or kill anyone else, then I shall be able to take more risks in life. This would allow me to have much faith in God and continue to believe in his ways.
