1. Challenges to Faith come from all over the place, some of them from sources we wouldn't expect. Science, if interpreted literally is a challenge to faith because science relies on facts to prove theories and beliefs, an element which Faith does not have. We are dehumanized by commercials and advertisements because the marketers want their product to be given human characteristics in order to make it feel like a friend. This takes away from the relationships we share with others and makes us become materialistic, only caring about material goods and believing that there is nothing greater than those objects which we can acquire.
2.- I want to remember the Merchants of Cool Video because I know sometimes I am way too materialistic. I care what kind of car I drive and how I look when really it shouldn't matter to me. In a lot of ways that video hit it dead on for most people, I don't do a lot of the things they say but caring about what I have too much is a problem for me.
- I want to remember the movie by Father Cavanaugh because sometimes I do let objects matter more than people even though I try not to.
- I want to remember scientism and that a lot of times I am more willing to accept things based on fact rather than based on Faith and I do not want to let that make me question my Faith.
