Dr. Paul Farmer

Dr. Paul Farmer is a doctor, but not an ordinary doctor, he serves those who cannot afford to pay. He doesn't work in a plush office building, nor does he drive a fancy car, rather he works in a small clinic in Haiti which he founded with a group of other doctors and expanded their program to serve people in Haiti, Peru, and Russia. The clinic was founded because of the growing gap between the rich and the poor of Haiti which matches the gap between the healthy and the unhealthy exactly.

The problem in Haiti is not that there are diseases which are non combatible, that's a small part of it, the bigger problem are the ailments which can be treated, most easily with an antibiotic or a simple procedure, the problem is the diseases aren't being treated. Dr. Paul Farmer founded the clinic because he believes that healthcare is for everyone.

Dr. Paul Farmer has challenged not only his faith but also the beliefs of many people of the world. He is challenging the belief that only some people deserve healthcare, the idea that suffering and strife will always exist, he is working to make a difference by challenging the beliefs of the world. He is living his faith by serving those around him in a very real way, just as the bible tells us to. He helps whoever needs it regardless of what their occupation is, regardless of their religion and does so with joy.
