Jan Roelof Schindler was born on 5th June 1957 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
He is the second son of Wil Schindler & Janie van der Moor. Schindler is a
self-taught artist and lives near the village of Ransdorp in Waterland. His father
was an accomplished (romantic) landscape painter. As a child Jan took a liking
to drawing and continued to do so. Years later he met Amsterdam artist Peter
Lammers who taught him the technique of etching. The subject matter of his etchings
varies, between playful (witches, film characters), traditional (landscapes from his
immediate surroundings) or thought provoking (etchings that contain a 'second
layer' which go beyond the picture, e.g. 'Catch That Melody', and the 'Nightrider'
sequence). The artist uses aquatints to highlight his etchings. He also enjoys
painting, and has had exhibitions of his art. He is married to Mariette Groeneveld
(who is also an artist) and they have two children, Mario & Julia.

Subjects include: Windmills, Witches, Musical topics, Animals, Ghosts, Bicycles, Sea creatures, Matisse and Goya inspired works, the Punch and Judy show, various places in Holland & much more.

Prices vary from  €40 - €70 (unframed).
