As a child, Tom already idolized the 'tough' actors. After attending Wayne State University, he got his Master's Degree in Theater from the University of Temple in 1986. He went to New York and after a long struggle of waiting and performing in plays, he got his first big break in Oliver Stone's Born on the 4th of July. Tom would guest star with the greatest such as Kevin Costner, Bruce Willis, Christian Slater and even many more. He'd work again with Oliver Stone in Natural Born Killers and Tom appeared in the very hard and superstar-loaded True Romance. His first lead role was in the sci-fi/horror The Relic. Fun fact is that Tom appeared in various war-movies.
However not appearing in martial arts movies, Tom was a martial arts practisioner in his teen years. Tom also enjoys weightlifting. His tough and confident appearance helped him in becoming credible and suitable for many action and war movies.
