Bio and martial arts background
Shin already loved Hong Kong and action movies at a young age. That is why he started training in swimming, gymnastics and biking and running at a young age. At the age of 16 he began with Karate. He gained his black belt in 2 years. When he was 18, he began to study English and enrolled the study Theatre of Arts Performing Arts Academy. While working on stage productions, Shin already had to choreograph martial arts parts. Since then Shinji would have his first television appearances, beginning with an episode of Power Rangers.
Shin also trained in Kung Fu and won various tournaments. Shin keeps getting better and better as an actor, martial artist and trainer. He is a rising star since his role in The Last Samurai, and is going in the same direction as the likes of Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Samo Hung and becoming an action star himself. Since the Last Samurai, Shin is also skilled in horseback riding and kyudo (archery). |
