Helio Gracie had 9 children and 7 of whom are boys. Helio and his older brother Carlos Gracie are the inventors of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Their sons started training with them very early. Royce started training Jiu-Jitsu at a very young age with his father, who was known as the father of Brasilian Jiu-Jitsu and one of the most dangreous fighters in the world. Rorion was already assisting his father with demos when he was only 2 years old. Helio's 2nd oldest son Relson also started training when 2 years old and competed at the age of 10. He later became Brazilian National Champion for 22 straight years. Rickson is also a talent who began competing at the age of 6 and gained a black belt when he was 18. Rickson gained even more fame as a Free-Style fighter defeating the 230 pound heavy Zulu twice. Rickson is now a 7th degree black belt, a Free Style, a Vale Tudo and Sambo Champion.
Royce began competing at the age of 8. When he was 18, he had his black belt and moved with his brother Rorion to the US. Rorion has a 9th degree black belt. After a lot of intense training for sometimes over 10 hours a day, Rorion and Royce opened the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Till today, the school keeps growing and growing. Together they made Gracie Jiu-Jitsu popular. Rorion was also responsible for the release of several instructional videos.
Royce, with Rorion's assistance, would even gain more fame when he competed in the UFC, developed by Rorion, and would defeat 4 opponents in one night, which is a record. Most of his opponents outweighted him by more than 50 pounds.
Besides being one of the best fighters in the world, Royce has been the trainer for celebs such as: Chuck Norris, Ed O'Neal, Nicolas Cage and Guy Ritchie. But he also trained security people, law-enforcement workers, militairies etc.
Royce now lives in Torrence with his wife and two sons. He still competes and is still one of the most dangerous people alive. A real fighter, not a paper dragon. Royce and some of his brothers appeard in several movies.
Rorion lives in South California with his wife and also has 9 children, also training in Jiu-Jitsu.
Relson retired from competition but still enjoys being a popular instructor in Hawaii.
Rickson established the Rickson Gracie International Jiu-Jitsu Association in 1996 and is a great instructor for actors, SWAT members, law-enforcement people and militairies of al kinds.
The other Gracie brothers are, Royler, Rolker and Robin. Also great fighters, instructors and champions. All of them are Helio's and Carlos' gift to the world. A generation of living legends, warriors, champions, and creators.
