Once upon a time in a glen down on emerald isle, under a huge gnarled tree there was a small red cottage shaped like a mushroom. In it lived Fairia. She was a fairy with golden hair and a sunny disposition. All the fairies on the isle knew her and liked her a lot. To tell the truth, Fairia baked the most delicious four clover pies that you have ever tasted. Everyone came coming back for more.
On this Isle also lived Mongomery Gnome. He was a solitary and mean spirited little gnome. No-one liked him because he would play nasty tricks on everyone. He even played nasty tricks on Fairia. He knew that she made the best pies on the whole island. One day he decided that he wanted one of her pies. He did not bother to ask her for one because he was so mean spirited. Instead he decided to steal one!
On this sunny morning Fairia had baked 2 special pies for Nardelle the fairy across the river. Word had spread that Nardelle was sick and needed a special potion to get her flying again. The potion tasted really awful so Nardelle refused to drink it. This in turn kept her from getting well. So good fairy Fairia decided she would bake some special pies with the potion in it and thus fool Nardelle into taking the potion that would make her well again.
Montgomery Gnome did not know this at the time he tried stealing the pies. He waited until Fairia had gone outside to hang the wash, before he crept up to the windowsill. He grabbed a pie and ran as fast as he could. He almost tripped on a root that was sticking out of the ground. When he arrived in his little shack under a rock, he sat down on the grass and ate the whole pie. He soon fell fast asleep. Little did he know that he had started to float up, up, up higher and higher. He floated over the trees and over the river. He floated like a cloud in the sky. All the fairies, trolls and gnomes had come out to see this site!
They all laughed at Montgomery and called out his name. Montgomery who was trying to sleep did not know what all the commotion was about. He stretched and opened an eye to take a look. The first thing he spotted was a cloud that almost touched his fat nose. Then he looked down and to his surprise he saw all the people of Island looking up at him and pointing! He also noticed that the ground was very far away. He was nowhere near his home. Montgomery became very frightened and started yelling for help. He tried reaching for the branch of a tree but missed it by an inch.
Fairia ran out to see Montgomery too. She realized what had happened when she found a pie missing. She flew up to him and told him what had happened. Montgomery was very frightened. He promised Fairia that if she could get him down then he would never be nasty again. He also promised never to lie and steal anything else in his whole life. Fairia told him that the potion would wear off in a few hours. She grabbed him by the collar and flew him down to the nearest tree. A leprechaun helped her tie Montgomery down until the potion wore off. When it did Montgomery was a changed little gnome. He helped Fairia bake another pie for Nardelle. He even went with fairia to bring it to her.
Nardelle had not yet heard about Montgomery's adventure. They did not want to tell her yet for fear that she would not eat the pie with the special potion in it. After the pie was eaten, Nardelle felt so much better. Her wings started to move and soon she was flying about the room just like her old self again. Now Fairia and Montgomery felt that it was safe to tell Nardelle what had happened. Nardelle laughed so hard she fell wih a bump to the floor and laughed some more. Soon everyone was laughing together. The story spread throughout the glen and everyone around came to visit Montgomery to hear it again. Now thanks to Fairia and her special pies, everyone in the glen became friends again and lived happily ever after.
