| Welcome to John's Gift. John was my dad. He and my mom didn't give birth to me; I was adopted as a tiny infant, just days old. Being a parent means more than making the DNA donation; it means being there to kiss away the owies, helping with the homework, tucking into bed at night; teaching the difference between right and wrong; helping to make difficult decisions; offering consolation in sad times; sharing in the joy of happy events. It means knowing when to hang on tight, and knowing when to let go. John may not have contributed to my creation, but he was integral in making me the person I am today; THAT is John's Gift. |
