GUITARS I HAVE KNOWN, by John Shaughnessy
Ovation,  Applause model(?)
This was my first good guitar.  I obtained it for practically nothing around 1990 at the Thrift Shop where I worked. In addition to being highly portable in their custom hard-case, Ovations are very playable, so it allowed me to make great leaps in my own playing.  This was the guitar I played in my very first performance and first gig at Name That Bar in Philadelphia.  Soon after then I got my Guild, and this became just my "knocking-around" guitar.  It's developed a lot of cracks in the veneer, and the sound is no longer up to my standards,  but it's still easy to play.  I'm hoping my daughters might want to try to learn to play on this guitar some day.
