Charlie Loves Daisy!
Actually, Charlie DOES love Daisy - Charlie and Daisy play, and play and play and play.  And then Leonard walks into the room and the play stops and Daisy and Charlie immediately lay down and get a look on their face that says - "there's nothing going on here!"  Leonard doesn't like to play with any dog other than Charlie.  And she likes to fight with Daisy, so she's a real downer when she comes into a room.  But they have started to let Daisy sleep on the bed with all of us, which is a good thing - see the text below for details.

Daisy came from Cape Breton where she was chained to a dog house 24 hrs a day for the first 3 years of her life.  She just had puppies on October 27, 2003 which are the last puppies she will have to bother with because she has since been spayed.  This was her 3rd litter - when you are chained outside any passing dog can have their way with you.  She was given up to rescue because her owner moved away and the owner's mother didn't feel like feeding Daisy anymore.  It was too much bother.  Which is the best thing that could have happened because now Daisy's living with me - initially this page was Daisy's "advertising page" because she was being fostered by me, but I've since adopted her - so now it's just her little page on the web.  While she was being fostered by me she was adopted out 3 times and returned 3 times for fighting with other dogs in the homes she went to.  She was labelled as being dog aggressive and I was repeatedly told she should only be adopted to homes with no other dogs.  I kept saying though that "she's living quite successfully in a multi-dog household here though - so what's the problem?"
The pictures above are Daisy in the chair that she had staked out for herself when she first arrived at my house - my dogs lay on the floor when they aren't on the bed - but Daisy for some reason doesn't like to lay on the floor!  But one thing is that she has really strongly bonded with me in a really short space of time - chained dogs sometimes realize what they've been missing their whole lives and once they start getting it - human companionship - they like a lot of it!  She needed human companionship more than I've seen from just about any dog.

Another exceptional quality is that she hardly barks.  She makes funny noises, but she's not a barker - which is definitely a plus!  She talks a lot which is misunderstood by almost everyone as growling which can be pretty dangerous when we're out.  Everyone misreads it as her going to attack them.  Which she's not.

I got her to foster on December 13, 2003 and I adopted her on April 9, 2004 after she was slashed at Seaview park by another dog owner who took exception to her playing with his dog and she needed to get 8 stitches in her head.  When I went to pick her up at the vet she almost broke her collar trying to get to me.  It was like I had abandoned her once again - each time she'd been adopted out I think she thought I was abandoning her - she had bonded so much to me for some reason (and I had bonded really closely to her to and didn't want to admit it).  The look on her face made me immediately realize that there was no other home she belonged in but mine.

She is a super difficult dog with a lot of behavioural issues that are hard to handle, but when I look in her eyes and scratch the skin in front of her ears and see the absolute perfect contentment and I get to share in that for a couple seconds and know that it's because of me that's she's experiencing it and that without her here I wouldn't be experiencing it myself I know I've made the right decision.  If she'd ended up just about anywhere else she'd be dead right now because of her issues. We have her whole life to work her problems out and even if we don't it doesn't matter.  She's a happy dog  - I can't help it if there's a ton of people out there who are afraid of rottweillers, I can't let that affect the quality of Daisy's life.  She shouldn't have to suffer for it.  Don't you agree?
