THE
AUDIENCE GAME
Game
#1
During the syndication run of Match Game
between 1979 and 1982, members of the studio audience got to play
the head to head match on camera if there was time left over
after a game was completed. In this episode, Charles Nelson
Reilly was picked to play the game.

________ of Sugar
While Charles was writing down his
answer, Gene went out into the audience and randomly selected a
person to play the game. If the person matched Charles, he/she
would win $50, if he/she did not match, Gene would find another
person until someone finally matched Charles.

Gene found some one to
play. _______ of Sugar. Here response was "Lump."

Charles shakes his head
no. No match.

Gene finds someone else.
This person said "Cube." No match.

Gene finds someone else.
This person said "Spoon." Still no match.

Gene then goes deep into the audience to
find someone who could match Charles. Gene finally found someone.
The person said "Cup."

CUP OF SUGAR IS A MATCH!
So Gene then hands over
the $50 dollar bill to the lucky studio audience member who
matched Charles.

See you next time on the
Match Game. Goodbye!
