Happier & Healthier Life

For many years, people have found their answers to life's many problems in the Holy Bible. The Bible has many things to help us live happier and healthier lives. When we follow the guidance as set forth in the scriptures, we live our lives in an orderly state. And when we live this way we are happier and healthier. If we observe the way that the people in the Bible lived their lives and by noting the food they ate, we can learn how to keep our bodies and our minds in top condition. The following is a list of what foods can make us healthier. When we are healthier we seem to be happier.

"Man should not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
(Matthew 4:4)

  • Water - Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will keep your system flushed out of unwanted impurities, especially if you are on a diet. Cold water will be absorbed into the body quicker. It will also help your skin and hair stay healthier.
  • Milk - Nutritionists say that milk helps fight colon, cervical, lung and stomach cancer. Skim milk helps prevent heart disease.
  • Honey - It's a store house of natural energy. Honey cantains boron - a vital mineral sadly lacking in the modern diet. It has tranquilizing powers, and can aid in healing wounds.
  • Fish - Many varieties of fish are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids - antiaging and antidegenerative disease substances. Doctors say eating just an ounce of fresh fish a day can slash heart attack risk by a whopping 50 percent.
  • Lentils, Broad Beans, Chick Peas - Lentils are complex carbohydrates, a nutritional category known to have substantial health benefits because they regulate the body's metabolic system. Complex carbohydrates help your body to metabolize food properly, keep insulin production balanced to prevent diabetes, and starve off feelings of hunger longer than most foods. Lentils are rich in vegetable protein anf fiber, nutritional weapons in the fight against colorectal cancer, high cholesterol levels, and high blood pressure. Lentils will also make you feel full longer.
  • Onions, Garlic - It is a potent antibiotic, it effectively fights the blood clotting that causes heart attacks, and it boosts the immune system.
  • Mustard - It has antibacterial properties, and can fire up the metabolism to consume unneeded calories and burn off fat.
  • Coriander, Cummin
  • Dill & Mint
  • Olives, Figs, Dates, Grapes - An ingredient in figs called benzaldehyde was used in Japanese studies to shrink tumors in humans. Like dates, figs are also natural laxatives. They are a good source of antioxidant vitamins A & C. Grapes contain antioxidant vitamins and substances that fight cancer. Grape juice is also antiviral.
  • Walnuts, almonds, pomegranates - An excellent source of certain antioxidants, some nuts contain ingredients that fight heart disease and cancer.
  • Fruit - They can help to prevent blood clots from forming and causing heart attacks and strokes. Rich source of vitamins.
  • Raisians - Like apples, raisins are rich in boron, a mineral vital in the prevention of osteoporosis.
  • Rice
  • Millet
  • Barley
  • Soybeans

The Israelites had a special advantage that gave them an edge over other people. God gave them a land flowing with milk and honey.

"For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks and water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills, a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey."
    (Deuteronomy 8:7-8)

Despite the richness of their agriculture, the average Israelite ate sparingly. They did observe the Biblical command to do all things in moderation - and that included eating. Over eating was not a problem - but neither was obesity.

Instead of drowing your dishes in fat and calorie-rich sauces and gravies, add zest to your food with nutrution-rich herbs and spices.

Bible food is high in fiber and low in cholesterol.

Agriculture experts have identified some 2,600 plants growing in the Holy Land. The Bible mentions 110 of them.

This page is still under construction.

You don't have to eat only the food mentioned in the Bible to stay healthy, but you do have to eat the foods containing the same vital nutrients.
