UAE honours General Franks United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan on Tuesday honoured US General Tommy Franks, who commands US forces in Iraq, for his efforts in boosting bilateral cooperation. Sheikh Zayed bestowed upon Franks the military order of the federation of the UAE in recognition of "his role in promoting cooperation between the Emirates and the United States, notably in the military field." Franks, who is set to retire in early July, last week received a medal from Kuwait's emir "in appreciation for his distinctive services and sincerity in carrying out his duties." UAE Govt Awards Medal To Pakistan Ambassador The Government of the United Arab Emirates UAE has awarded a "High Order of Independence Medal" to Major General (R) Salim Ullah, Pakistan's outgoing Ambassador to the EMIRATES in recognition of his meritorious services for strengthening and expanding bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Ambassador Maj Gen (R) Salim Ullah was decorated with the "Vashah-al-Istaqbal" Medal, which is third highest in the order of merit and is given only to the Ministers of foreign countries, by Saif Saeed Sa'ad, Under Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of His Highness President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. United Arab Emirates honors Moseley The United Arab Emirates conferred the highest military order on Air Force Vice Chief of Staff Gen. T. Michael Moseley during a ceremony at the Dubai Air Show. Lt. Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deputy crown prince of Abu Dhabi and chief of staff of the United Arab Emirates armed forces presented the Emirates Military Order First Class to Moseley. The award recognizes the general’s outstanding services which contributed to the reinforcement of cooperation between the United States and UAE. The general has served as the director of operations for Joint Task Force-Southwest Asia. He also commanded 9th Air Force and U.S. Central Command Air Forces while serving as combined forces air component commander for operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, UAE Defence Minister and Head of Dubai Police and Security, has praised the efforts of the retiring first generation of senior police officers. During the ceremony he awarded the officers the Dubai Police First Class Medal. The medal is considered the highest honour that is awarded by Dubai Police and is only bestowed to an individual through the orders of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
