Famous Scientist Yegen Atagarryev awarded "Star Of President" Medal Professor Yegen Atagarryev, a famous Turkmen archeologist, doctor of history sciences, was awarded “Star of President” medal by a decree of the president of state. The 70-year old scientist was honored with such a high award “ for rendering specific services to neutral Turkmen state and its consolidated people, for great successes in studying and promulgating the glorious history of the Turkmen people, its rich culture and art, for exemplary work on raising a younger generation in the spirit of love for Fatherland and for painstaking work.” “Star of President” medal is the second significant award in the republic after “Hero of Turkmenistan” title. Made of gold, it has a star configuration with 12 ends with 2 mm-in-diameter chrysopras stones in the center of each end. There is a circle, 1,5 mm in diameter, coated with green enamel in the center of the star. In the center of the circle there is a convex, made of gold, picture of the half face of the first president of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov. Council of Turkmenistan Awards Saparmurat Niyazov "Ruhnama" Medal
The Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan issued a resolution on awarding chairman
of the People’s Council, President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov the
highest state medal, “Ruhnama”.
According to the decision unanimously adopted by the session participants
the Turkmen leader was honored with such high award “for pursuing wise
foreign and domestic policies, radical transformations in all spheres of
life, pursuing the path of development chosen at the outset of
independence”, “considering great historic services rendered by
Saparmurat Turkmenbashi to the neutral Turkmenistan, united Turkmen people
and peoples of the world”, and for creating “the main book of the
Turkmen people – sacred “Ruhnama”.
The decision by the People’s Council notes that “Saparmurat Turkmenbashi,
being an outstanding politician and statesman of the modern time, will be
remembered in the history of humankind as a state founder advocating his own
philosophy of development in the core of which lie the principles of peace

Turkmenistan Institutes New Medal for Border Defence Turkmenistan introduced a new medal that would be awarded on display of exceptional courage in defending the borders of Turkmenistan. The medal would apparently be open to the border services of Turkmenistan only. The ‘Merdana Serhetchi’ – Valiant Border Guard – is in octagonal shape. The medal can be awarded in Class I and class II.
