National Honours for Madam Eyadema for 'Bravery' The nation of Togo has conferred the highest national honours of the Commander of the Order of Mono on Madame Hubertine Badagnaki Eyadema for showing exceptional femine courage, and self-composure during the heat of the blistering armed attack by dissidents on the inter-arms regiment headquarters of President Eyadema at dawn on March 25, 1993. According to the citation, "while the inter-arms regiment military camp was encircled, and besieged by a hail of bullets, grenades, bazookas and rocket launchers, you, Madame Hubertine Badagnaki Eyadema were left completely stranded, alone, battling to save the dear life of your son." Togo honours victorious national soccer team Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe has bestowed national honours on the football players and their handlers, who qualified the country for its first World Cup finals in Germany 2006. Gnassingbe awarded the players and their Nigerian coach, Stephen Keshi, Togo`s highest national honour of the Officer of the Mono Order. The chairman of the Togolese Football Federation, Rock Balakiyem Gnassingbé, was made the Commander of the Order of Mono, while the other members of the federation were made Officers of the National Order of Merit and Knight of the National Order of Merit. angolapress-angop.ao 12 Oct 05
