Tanzania People's Defence Force officers and soldiers were decorated with
medals. Some 58 officers from the rank of major and above were decorated
with medals for exemplary service in the armed forces including
working not less than 20 years consecutively. Another 16 soldiers were
honoured for long service and good conduct. Another batch of 69
soldiers including Non-Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers 1 (WO1) and
Warrant Officers 2 (WO2) were decorated with medals. Last year, about 1,690
National Service and Tanzania People?s Defence Force officers were decorated

Kenya
honours Mkapa President Mwai
Kibaki of Kenya awarded President Benjamin Mkapa the highest Kenyan medal
of honour as a gesture of appreciation for the 10 years he has led
Tanzania. Speaking after receiving the award, Mkapa expressed his gratitude
saying that it was also a gift for all Tanzanians from their Kenyan

NISHANI YA JAMHURI TANZANIA, all within a scalloped border. The reverse is
