• Slovak soldiers in Iraq decorated with medals Polish Colonel Slawomir Berdak presented multinational unit memorial medals to Slovak engineers deployed in Iraq. In his speech the colonel gave top marks to the high professional qualities and self-sacrifice shown by the Slovak soldiers in de-mining the Iraqi territory and the liquidation of non-exploded ammunition. The Slovak soldiers were also awarded with a medal to mark their 6-month service in the Iraqi operation Enduring Freedom. Slovakia has deployed approximately one hundred military engineers in Iraq who are part of the multinational division under Polish command.
