• Saxony (State of) - Many deserve share of peace honour Former Coventry church leader Paul Oestreicher has spent much of his life working to heal the wounds inflicted on Britain and Germany by the Second World War. Now the 72-year-old former international director of Coventry Cathedral will receive an honour from the German state of Saxony. Canon Oestreicher, who went around the world on behalf of the city's cathedral in the cause of peace and reconciliation from 1985 to 1998, is to be handed the Order of Merit of the State of Saxony. He will collect the award - similar to an OBE - from the Prime Minister of Saxony, a state of the German federation, in recognition of his work in uniting the two countries in the aftermath of the war.
