King Fahd decorates Dr. Ismat Abdulmajeed - Dr. Ismat Abdulmajeed with King Abdul Aziz Medal during an audience here today. This honouring reflects appreciation of King Fahd for the great services provided to the Arab Ummah by Dr. Abdulmajeed during his work in international forums, the last of which was the Arab League. King Fahd gives medals to squad handling the Russian plane hijacking - Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Assistant Minister of Interior for Security Affairs, with the King Faisal sash, in recognition of his successful handling of the storming operation of the Russian plane, which had been hijacked and forced to land at the Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Airport in Madinah, Western Saudi Arabia, last March. The King also decorated Lt. Gen. Ghaith Ghazi Alharbi, Commander of the Special Security Forces, with the King Abdul Aziz Class One Medal, Maj. Gen. Khalafallah Alharthi with the King Abdul Aziz Class II Medal and Maj. Gen. Ali Abdullah Abdulwahed with the King Abdul Aziz Class III Medal, for their role in leading the team which freed the plane's crew and passengers. Divided into two categories, members of the squad were also decorated with the King Faisal Class II Medal and the King Abdul Aziz Class III Medal respectively. May 01

Pilgrimage Medal - The Cabinet decided to create a new military medal to be called Hajj (pilgrimage) Decoration to honor and encourage the servants of pilgrims. The Hajj Badge of Honor will be granted to civil and military Hajj servants from inside and outside of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (Ref: 30/07/2001 Saudi Cabinet weekly meeting)

King Abdul Aziz Medals awarded - First class king Abdul Aziz Medal for 1421 to five outstanding businessmen. According to the Royal approval, the medal will be awarded to each of Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz, Salih bin Abdullah Kamil, Abdel-Rahman bin Abdel-Kadir Faqih, Abdel-Latif bin Hamad al-Jabr and Abdel-Rahaman bin Abdullah Al-Khureyyif. Medal of Honour

This medal was awarded to a American Officer who was part of the Coalition Warfare Branch, assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group, during the invasion and liberation of Kuwait. He was wounded in the process of pulling Saudi soldiers out of harms way and was awarded the Saudi Arabian Medal of Honour for his actions. He has been authorized to wear this award.
