• Seven OAU Military Service Personnel Receive OLMEE Peace Medals Seven OAU Military Service Personnel, five officers and two non commissioned officers, were awarded certificates and decorated with OLMEE peace medals at a ceremony organized by the OAU General Secretariat. Recipients of the award included five Liaison Officers drawn from Nigeria, Algeria, and South Africa as well as two non-commissioned officers from Kenya and Tunisia. The assistant Secretary-General responsible for Political Affairs, Amb. Said Djinnit, presented the awards and commended the officers for their contributions towards implementing the peace agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea. He also paid tribute to them for maintaining a cordial working relationship with the UN Mission in Ethiopia & Eritrea (UNMEE) which he said facilitated the implementation of the peace process in spite of occasional difficulties. addistribune.com 01 Aug 01
