Décoration Royale American Senator John McCain and representative Lincoln Diaz-Balart have been made Commander of the Order of Alaouite Wissam, for their work in obtaining the liberation of Morocan prisoners in Algeria. The same award was given to Senator Richard Lugar, President of the Senat Commission on Foreign Affairs in August 2004. for his humanitarian mission to supervise the liberation of the last 404 Morocan prisoners. Moroccan King Honours Former M'sian Envoy To Morocco King Mohammed VI of Morocco has bestowed the Grand Officer of Wissam Alaouite award on Malaysia's former ambassador to Morocco, Datuk Mohd Nor Atan, the first Malaysian envoy to that country to be given the decoration. The special award is for foreign ambassadors serving in the country in recognition of their contribution to enhancing bilateral ties between Morocco and their countries. Mohd Nor, 51, served as Malaysia's ambassador to Morocco from 2002 to early this month. On Dec 5, he was appointed as the country's new ambassador to Peru and is expected to begin his tour of duty in the middle of next month. bernama.com.my 24 Dec 05
