Gadaffi honours African leaders The Libyan leader, Colonel Gadaffi, is reported to have presented eleven African leaders with medals, in appreciation of their decision to ignore the United Nations air embargo against his country. The presidents of Uganda, Niger, Chad and Eritrea were present at the ceremony. Medals of honour were also received on behalf of another seven African leaders from Sudan, Mali, the Gambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic news.bbc.co.uk 1 Oct 98
Libyan ambassador receives VUFO medal Salem Ali Salem Dannah, Secretary of the People's Bureau of Libya, has been awarded "For Peace and Friendship Between Nations Medal", in recognition of his devotion to friendly and cooperative relations between Viet Nam and Libya. The medal, the most notable reward of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), was presented to him by VUFO General Secretary Tran Dac Loi in Ha Noi. As Secretary of the People’s Bureau or Libyan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam for 8 years, Salem Ali Salem Dannah has been involved in the VUFO’s activities and actively participated in charity activities launched by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and the Viet Nam Children Support Fund. vnagency.com.vn 23 Jun 04
