• Order of the Estonian Red Cross

• Freedom Cross - The highest Estonian Order was the Freedom Cross, which was established in 1919. The badge (with blue enamel) 1st Class III Grade was awarded for State Merits. Such badge was worn on the neck of the Estonian President Konstantin Paets. 111 persons (93 foreigners - mostly heads of states) were awarded this class of the Freedom Cross. The badge was produced from gold. 39 x 45 mm. (Ref: V. Kavaliauskas)

• Order of the White Star - A total of 6 of these awards were awarded. (Vilius Kavaliauskas collection, Vilnius, Lithuania)  

• "Orders and Decorations: Estonia - Latvia - Lithuania 1918-1940" by Vilius Kavaliauskas. This book was recently published in the Czech Republic and is written in English. It contains 160 pages, including 27 colour plates, and has all the latest facts on number of awards made. Price is 20 USD plus 3 USD for mailing and handling. If requested, Vilius will autograph the book. The Author's collection of Baltic awards, which includes 4 Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Collar Chains,  is on display at the Moravian National Museum in Brno. • Order of the Estonian Defence Forces (Teenetemärgi kirjeldus) This order was established on 18.2.1998 by the Commander of the Defence Force and is issued in one class and two grades for civil merits (this is the award shown) and for military merits with swords. Ref: email Bjoern Adam Feb 04

• Temira Pachmuss to receive medal of honor from Republic of Estonia A professor of Slavic languages and literatures at the University of Illinois has won a medal of honor from the Republic of Estonia for her meritorious contributions to that nation. Temira Pachmuss will receive the  on March 30 in ceremonies at the Estonian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Three others have been selected to receive the medal, which will be presented by the Estonian ambassador on behalf of Lennart Meri, the president of Estonia. The medal recognizes outstanding accomplishments in civil service or local government work in Estonia, as well as outstanding services by foreigners to Estonia.
