Abdullah conferred Chile’s highest award Malaysia New Straits Times group editor-in-chief Tan Sri Abdullah Ahmad was conferred Chile’s highest award, the Gran Cruz de la Orden al Merito de Chile. The conferment of the award by Chilean ambassador to Malaysia, Roberto Ibarra, was witnessed by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Raja Muda of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, Deputy Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen. 4 Chinese receive Chilean presidential medals Four Chinese people, including Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, received the Chilean Neruda Presidential Medal. The medals, honoring Pablo Neruda, a renowned Chilean poet and a Nobel Prize Winner, were conferred on Li and three other Chineseexperts engaged in the translation and research of Neruda's works. Bono awarded Neruda medal by Chile Bono has been awarded the Pablo Neruda Medal of Honour by the Chilean government in recognition of his contribution to music and to humanitarian causes. SA writers to be presented with Chilean medal of honour Nadine Gordimer and Mongane Wally Serote, the internationally acclaimed South African writers, will be presented with the Pablo Neruda International Presidential Medal of Honour from the Chilean government.
