Veterans Living in Israel Awarded for Belaruss's Liberation From Nazis The veterans who had fought at the three Belarussian Fronts and in guerrilla units during the Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany (1941-1945), and who reside in Israel now were awarded with medals "The 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from Nazi invaders." All in all, 148 veterans received medals and letters from Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko. On July 3, 2004 Belarus celebrated the 60th anniversary of its liberation from the Nazis. The Belarussian president established a medal in honor of this event. Many Russian veterans have already received this award. en.rian.ru 14 Feb 05
