Uncle Johnny's Old Settlers Baked Beans

1 can red kidney beans
1 can butter beans
1 can pork n beans
1/2 pound ground beef & 1/2 pound chopped bacon browned together
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup catsup
1/4 cup barbeque sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
May also add 1 Tablespoon of chili powder if you like a little zing

Drain red kidney beans,butter beans and Pork N Beans. Mix all of the ingredients together with the beans, place in a 9X13 baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.




Chinese Coleslaw

1 bag of Broccoli Slaw Mix (it must be the broccoli and not just regular cabbage slaw mix
1 bunch green onions finely chopped, some green for color and the white section
1 small pkg. of Beef Ramen Noodles broken up into pieces
Save the seasoning packet from the Beef Ramen Noodles for the dressing
6 oz. sunflower seeds
Dressing:
1/2 cup salad oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
Seasoning packet from the Beef Ramen Noodles

Combine and toss the broccoli slaw mix, chopped green onions,and crumbled Ramen noodles.
Mix the dressing thoroughly and toss salad with the dressing. Best if made the night before serving.
This salad is wonderful and will make a big hit at any gathering of friends and relatives.




Calico Salad

Make at least 25 hours ahead.

Drain thoroughly:
1 can white corn
1 can Le Suer Early Peas
1 can French cut green beans

Add:
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced celery

Dressing:
1/2 cup oil
3/4 cup wine vinegar
1 TB water
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper

Bring dressing ingredients to a rolling boil and cook for 1 minute. Cool and pour over vegetables. Refrigerate for at least 25 hours ahead of serving time.
This salad will keep in the refrigerator for six weeks.



Alpha Betty's Apples

4 apples, cored
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup walnut or pecans, chopped
1 cup water

Place apples in an 8x8 inch baking dish.
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix well.
Add chopped walnuts. Mix well.
Fill each apple with equal amounts of brown sugar mixture.
Pour water around apples.
Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for one hour.
Makes 4.
