The Oleander is a large shrub of the Dogbane family which is poisonous if taken internally. It blooms all of the year. This is both the white and pink variety. The oleander is a native of the Levants. Sometimes it is called Rose Bay. In this hemisphere it will grow in Florida, southern California, Mexico, Central America, northern South America, the West Indies and the Bahamas.
Oleanders are very hardy but in some areas they need constant spraying to save them from being eaten by caterpillars. Grown in the open sunshine they will bloom profusely.
