There's no frigate like a book to take us to lands far away". This quotation means that the writer will take the readers mind to a place they have never been before . Many people agree with this critical lens because many works that have been written have shown evidence of this. In Their Eyes Were Watching God by zora Neal Hurston and Macbeth by Shakesreare show examples of this.
In Macbeth mediveal times in Scitland is considered as a land far away. This work takes usto a place Scotland where people lived in castles and used horses as transportation. An example of this is when duncan visted macbeth's castle as a guest. Also the time when the story took place wa when women lacked of power and men fought amongst one another. An example of this is when Macbeth and Macdownwald fought about Macdownwald being unloyal to the king. Most battles were things over being loyal or not loyal.
In Their Eyes Were Watching God the land that was considred far away was Florida. It was a time in the thirties when it was segregated. An example of this is when all people who were balck were forced to bury the dead after there were storm. The white people were given coffins butthe black people were not. This shows that black pepole in the south had little oppurtunity or say as to how they lived orhow they would be treated.
These two works have shown examples of places far away. But the examples that are shown are somewhat struggles between people as a race or an individual.
