An anonymous writer once wrote "True love is not blind, infact, love has better than 20/20 vision." This statement has proven to be true.It means that love sees all, the good and the bad.In "love poem" by John Fredrick Nims and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne this statement is proven to be true.
In "Love Poem" a man describes his wife in such a way you would think he did not love her.He used words like clumsy, unpredictable, rough, and not delicate to describe her.The man also sees the good qualities his wife has.He says that if she were to die he would be very sad and unhappy.Even though he described her bad qualities he sees that he needs her good ones. The man in the poem loves his wife and in order for him to point out her flaws he has to see and accept them.He notices the good and the bad, her helpfulness and her clumsiness. He sees his love for his wife in 20/20 vision.
In The Scarlet Letter the main character Hester saw true love with Dimesdale. Hester saw that Dimesdale was not a very strong person but he had a big heart. Hester saw that Dimesdale was honerable and loving; at the same time she saw that he was in fact committing sin. Hester saw through the opinions of others and also looked passed her loversflaws and imperfections. Hester's love for Dimesdale was seen in 20/20 vision.
"Love Poem" and The Scarlet Letter both prove that love has better than 20/20 vision. In both works the people in mention saw both good and bad qualities in their loved ones and accepted them for who they were.
