9/11: A Reflection

September 11,2001 was an eye-opener for all Americans in this country who thought war couldn't happen to them. Americans normally lead their day-to-day lives with nonchalantness and invincibility until that certain day. On that day, Americans learned that they were hated by others and it would take more than a week for life to go back to normal.

That was a day that nobody could forget. Television was filled with news about the latest happenings. People were telling similar stories about how they escaped death. Many people lost their lives. It was a hectic day that all started around 8:45 am. Before that time, everything was normal. The weather was nice and people were heading to work as usual.

The First Tower was hit by a plane and all bystanders thought it was an accident. By the time a second plane hit, the people knew that it was an attack. Then the word got out that the Pentagon was hit by a plane and a plane had crashed in a remote area of Pennsylvania. By this time, many lives were lost instantly and many were fighting to stay alive. People shifted gears instantly. They went from "everything is okay" mode to "I have to save or help as many people despite the fact I don't know them" mode.

All in all, this day has taught many valuable lessons at a high expense. The first and most important lesson that was taught is don't take life for granted. The second lesson is there are people who have more problems than you. The third lesson is don't forget because easily forgotten tragedies could easily happen again. Most importantly people in this country have learned there is more to life than clothes, music, and status. Having the enttitlement to say that you are alive should be good enough.
