Critical Lens 1

"Great literature shows us the worst in a human being while also revealing the best".Litgerature can show how people in everyday life can change. The critical lens explains to us that a person can have two sides, a good and a bad. MAny poepe agree with this critical lens because things happen and sometimes you're too late when you realize. Using the works of literature of Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston and Macbeth by Williams Shakespeare will help explain the critical lens more fully.
In Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston , Joe Starks relates to this critical lens.He has a way of persuading Janie to run away with him but becomes a different person when he becomes mayor in a small town in Florida. He then begins to mistreat Janie by not letting her speak to people and keeping her locked in the house. So he shows the best in hunmanity by being hard-working and deteremined but also the worst by abusing Janie.
In Macbeth by Williams Shakespeare, the protagonist Macbeth was a good person who had a soft side. He is convinced by his wife to commit a crime. He knows he shouldn't do it but he does it out of love for his wife.So he loses his good side to become a murderer and a traitor.
People force difficulties everyday. Literature, such as tose mentioned help people of everyday life think of the consquences that may occur.
