Are cops really doing their jobs?

Argumentative and persuasive essay Are cops really doing their jobs?

The government tries to hire the best, most responsible officers to protect the city. There are some officers that do not take their jobs seriously at all, some officers’ sleep at their jobs some stays at home instead of doing their jobs. There is other misconduct that officers do that show that there are some bad cops. Some officers put money first instead of putting their jobs first, stealing money and everything from anywhere. But the most two talked about misconduct are the fact that there are some officers who are known as the bad cops and also the officers who misuse their powers a little overboard sometimes.
The so-called bad cops are the types of cops who do everything to get paid more than they should. Some of them run a gang of their own to spread drugs around for the money of course, some steal money from anywhere, take drugs, money, guns from the crime scenes, the list goes on and on. How can people be protected like this when there are officers like these in the world today? There have been a lot of victims that have came up and told the world that they were pulled over by officers and were told to take their clothes off and searched for no reason especially in women’s case. These types of situations are heard of on the news, in the newspapers. On the news, news reporters talk about women who came up and talk to the world about the fact that officers of the law sexually assaulted them.
There are other officers who are much more on the lighter side but they misuse their powers one way or another. The officers give out tickets to anyone they see, sometimes because they feel like it or sometimes because they were just following their orders to give as much ticket as they can. There are other people who believe that there are officers that are so good that they have to take every precaution to keep the country save even if people have to get naked or beaten to death. These people believe that the officers are just doing their jobs.
There are hundreds of organizations that are trying to stop police corruption and to report them. No one should be afraid to stand up for himself or herself. Officers who commit these types of crimes should be sentenced to jail for a long time. People need to start yelling, go on marches, and tell the government to do thorough searches on the officers that are hired. Any officers that even commits one crime should be send to jail for years to show the other officers what would happen to them if they try to follow the same footstep. Back to Index 1
