Miseducation of those who believe in War

It was quite interesting to sit in history class and learn about war, but also knows that is was just in class. I though with the intelligent minds we have today that war would just be in history. However, low and behold 9/11 came and America retaliated and called for war on Iraq. Until this moment I cannot believe that we are at war. The Americans won’t feel the real effects of war because it is not being fought on our lands. I am surprised that we don’t place much emphasis on this war as those in Iraq.

We as humans have the instinct to fight to survive. Social Darwinism plays a great role in our thinking. As we grow older we get wiser, and the more educated we get the more sensitive we are towards other people. It is in our ignorance that we say that we are the best, and therefore we have the upper hand to live rather than those who we think are mediocre. However, as I have seen over the years, the people who lead us are intelligent enough to know that there is no best in this world, there are too many differences. The varieties of this world cannot be classed. If you ever read The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, you would understand why we still class ourselves. In this book Golding showed that even these boys who were now reaching puberty developed classes, one of them being savages. These savages thought themselves to be the most powerful of the bunch. This idea transcends into our every day lives, and we see this every time we are at war.

I think that the wars fought had an underlining cause. I have had the luck to ask the General of EUCOM a couple of questions, sit though his speech about EUCOM, and read about the wars and so forth as the progress. I have realized that most rivalries form as a result of power hungry countries that go by the pedantic thoughts of Social Darwinism. All of these countries will never understand that they are not GOD. They are just megalomaniacs.

I am not saying that it is not right to fight for what you believe in. Then again, never fight for control of oil because your country, alone, uses 6 times more energy than the Europeans. War is the wrong way to deal with problems; people will always want to retaliate. I propose we understand that we are different, and one must treat the differences like the most priceless thing. Respect is what is missing. With no respect we will keep fighting a losing battle, War.
