The occurance of teenage violence is increasing dramatically. Today anger and rage among teens seems to overtake schools and communities into a rolllercoaster of emotions and thoughts. Considering the decisions and logic of our teen community, we try to give them alternatives instead of helping them to see clearly what is reality. Teens seem to be unable to focus and control their emotions.
With this in mind we look at high school shootings such as Columbine in April of 2000 and recently here at Jamaica on April 1st. However, we look at them as rare incidents and never really approach the subject. With so many violent attacks among students, it is not an understatment to suggest that teens are unable to control certain emotions. As we look and listen to the faces and sounds of the Monday morning only three days after the shooting, it seems as if the events of that Friday afternoon never occurred. The anger and rage that teens feel never seem to get addressed and instead are carried out through violent attacks on one another.
