The Best way to Know One Another

Reflective Writing 3

"The best index to a person's character is (a) how he treats people who can't do him any good, and (b) how he treats people who can't fight back." Abigail Van Buren
This quotation means that the best way to know a person is by watching how he treats others whom are useless to him and who can't fight for themselves. If a person treats another well regardless of that person's status or reputation, then this person shows good character. Many people are unable to hold such good identities because the world today is based on people acting in their own benefit. Today people lack the conscience to think about how others feel and the circumstances that hold some back but pushes others ahead. This can be seen in the character of Bush in our society.
Even though Bush is the president of the U.S., his character flaws are endless. Bush is like a bully who goes after the little guys (citizens) while he protects his business associates (cabinet members, oil sellers, etc). For us citizens he increases taxes, started a war that is draining the economy, and uses propaganda to manipulate us into his beliefs and have us let our guard down. It is supposedly the people who give the government its power, however, if that were true, the cries of the people caling for the ending of the war would have been heard.
