It is a growing subject throughout several parts of the world. Commented by people as the most controversial issue since inter-racial marriages; gay marriages. And, where there are a lot of marriages in another category, not too far from it lays divorce. Gay marriage it is looked down upon as unethical, immoral or better yet, repugnant for its disregard to the bible; Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve nor April and Eve. Shunned by society, those whom live “unacceptable” argue that the bible, nonetheless also states that the man upstairs loves everyone no matter their size, shape, color, and etc. Question is, if we allow gay marriages, are we not allowing more divorces?
In article, “Gay Divorcee” posted on Michael Short’s website: “Boston, Massachusetts (AP) -- Less than seven months after same-sex couples began tying the knot in Massachusetts, the state is seeing its first gay divorces... Exactly how many same-sex couples are seeking divorces is not clear -- nor is it clear whether any gay divorces have become final -- because not all counties keep track of which divorce filings are from gays.” Furthermore he states: “I believe that, since gay couples are divorcing at just the same rate as heterosexual couples, this proves that the gay community is ready for marriage. It may be possible that many couples rushed into this purely for the political symbolism, which always leads to trouble. The last time I did something for political symbolism, I ended dressed up like the Statue of Liberty in a Cuban prison.”
Homosexuality has become an increasing population in Americas, since the late 1900’s and is continuously growing. Although, homosexuality is growing in publicity through television shows like, Queer As Folk and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, its publication for marriage strikes America as going too far. Like marriage and homosexuality, divorce is a rather high percentage. If gay marriage were legalized, it would only amplify the rates of divorce, which will probably result in an imbalance in the economy.
